rumboogy Posted July 7, 2011 Share #1 Posted July 7, 2011 Just curious...mostly from people that have had this done at the dealer (stealer). They also changed out a back tire at the same time... So what is a customary charge at a DEALER for this service? I'm only interested in what was charged for the swing arm bearing lube. Thanks. rumboogy Posted July 7, 2011 Author Share #2 Posted July 7, 2011 Ok, then what would be a fair price for this service?
Bubber Posted July 7, 2011 Share #3 Posted July 7, 2011 I have purchased a spare swing arm to look into the possibility of installing a grease zerk into the end of the swing arm where the bearings are. There are some issues with doing that: 1) room and location with where to put the zerk so grease gets to the bearing 2) no max amount of grease to insert because the whole swing arm is inter connected and you could fill the whole cavity up with grease 3) time to work on it. 4) how many time can you grease it before pulling it apart 5) capturing or containing the grease in the proper location I am sure there are more issues to think about also.
