BlueVenture87 Posted March 21, 2011 Share #1 Posted March 21, 2011 Hi folks! One quick question. I took the mufflers off to replace the rear tire and want to know if the gaskets are an "always replace" item or if they can be reused. They're stuck pretty good on the pipe but overall look smooth. I want to get a no leak job, can I use the gaskets over and simply remount the mufflers? Thanks! Jim
GaryZ Posted March 21, 2011 Share #2 Posted March 21, 2011 I did . . . In fact, I've had the mufflers off a number of times and re-used the same gaskets.
Dano Posted March 21, 2011 Share #3 Posted March 21, 2011 If they're not torn up and the band clamps are good, re-use the heck out of them.
Yammer Dan Posted March 21, 2011 Share #4 Posted March 21, 2011 Reuse them!! Yamaha thinks that is gold not brass!! I read a long time ago that there wa a copper fitting that you could make those gaskets out of with a litte work. I can't find it. Maybe one of you guys that gets along with that other site could ask. I'll pretty sure thats where I got it but can't find it.
