shikano53 Posted November 14, 2010 #1 Posted November 14, 2010 Hi, I read the oil filter cross reference sheet on the technical link and was wondering if anyone from Canada used a Canadian Tire (Motormaster) oil filter and what the number is? I was in Canadian Tire this evening and there were no Fram filters that fit my 2004 RSV. Thank you in advance.
Gary N. Posted November 14, 2010 #2 Posted November 14, 2010 I don't have the number handy but Car Quest can help you out. If you have one close by.
sarges46 Posted November 14, 2010 #3 Posted November 14, 2010 I dont know if Canadian Walmart carries these, but you could have a look and maybe cross reference them. Walmart Super-tech 7317 I buy 6 or so at a time when I am south. Marilyns vstar uses the same filter...she has the barons adaptor. Cheap and good quality. When I looked up motomaster filters it says they are rebranded Fram, and made in China.
shikano53 Posted November 14, 2010 Author #4 Posted November 14, 2010 Thank you. I'm a bit leery about using Fram filters. I will have a look and see if Wal-Mart has the Super-Tech 7317. Thanks for the information folks. Chris in Red Deer, Alberta
sarges46 Posted November 14, 2010 #5 Posted November 14, 2010 How quick do you need one Chris? If you have the time I can just send you one of mine....no cost but a beverage one day.
shikano53 Posted November 14, 2010 Author #6 Posted November 14, 2010 HEllo Rick and thank you for the offer. I don't need it that bad. I think old man winter is going to strike today. I made it home with my new bike yesterday afternoon. If you want to see what the next week holds weather wise click here. http://www.weatheroffice.gc.ca/city/pages/ab-29_metric_e.html Thanks again Rick. I have to go to the Yamaha dealer next weekend to pick up my passing light kit and adapter kit I bought so I will pick up a filter at the same time and change my oil and filer next weekend. PS your welcome to a beverage though anytime you may be in the neighbourhood. Chris
sarges46 Posted November 14, 2010 #7 Posted November 14, 2010 No problem. Let us know what the yammi one costs! I bet you will bang your head against the wall given what yammy charges for stuff! I myself buy nothing but what I need right now from our dealer here. I've bought many things from Texasyamaha or Seattle yamaha. Almost half the price. (That includes my passing lights), Mind you, never get anything shipped by UPS or Fedex. They charge brokerage fees that will make you cry! USPS is the best way to ship from the US.
Rocket Posted November 14, 2010 #8 Posted November 14, 2010 http://www.weatheroffice.gc.ca/city/pages/ab-29_metric_e.html Chris Your forecast looks worse than mine & I'm north east of you... http://www.weatheroffice.gc.ca/city/pages/ab-55_metric_e.html So maybe, Mrich12000 in Calgary, is in for it too. :snow:

I put Amsoil 20-W-50 in. I should have bought it from the dealer but I didn't realize that he would be the cheaper than The Peavy Mart store. I paid $16.00 a liter and the dealer was selling it for $14.50 a liter. Next time. Chris in RD
sarges46 Posted November 21, 2010 #10 Posted November 21, 2010 Ok, if you are paying that much for a litre of oil then that price isnt too bad for a filter I guess. Man that stuff is expensive, I never realized! But, again some swear by it. Bet you are getting the snow blues already! I know we are, we just got dumped on again! My poor son, I broke the snowblower yesterday trying to start it for him. Now he's gotta hand bomb it!
