tophatflyer Posted October 9, 2010 Share #1 Posted October 9, 2010 Hello! I just purchased a 1983 Venture and when I rode it home the idle stuck at about 2500. The bike starts and runs fine, but the idle will not slow down. Any suggestions? Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
safetyguy Posted October 9, 2010 Share #2 Posted October 9, 2010 You can try and ajdust the idle screw. Remove the left side cover. It is the downward pointed screw between the two sync screws. You should be able to turn it by hand - you don't need a screwdriver, but pliers may help to start it. Turn the idle screw counter clockwise and see if your idle goes down. Make sure you don't adjust the sync screws!!! (These need a screwdriver). Please look at attached photo Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

Yammer Dan Posted October 10, 2010 Share #4 Posted October 10, 2010 I'd get some Sea-Foam in it soon. Something caused that idle to mess up. Spray some WD40 around the carbs to see if you have a vacum leak. It will rev up if you do. Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
