calperin Posted May 9, 2010 Share #1 Posted May 9, 2010 Did somebody has take off and put back the carbs on a 96-00 Royal Star? The real question is how to put it back fitting properly on the rubber boots that goes to the cylinders? after replace the boots, It seems that even when everything is ok, there is no way to put the carbs back on place. All that I reach was my finger hammered till now with the rubber hammer. Thanks
MiCarl Posted May 10, 2010 Share #2 Posted May 10, 2010 I assume from your question you changed the carb holders (the rubber pieces that bolt to the heads that the carburetors push into). Are you sure you have them oriented properly. If the orientation is proper (everything lines up) and they just won't go in try lubricating them with a little soapy water. I've also found that the clamps need to be looser to get them back than they needed to be to come out.

tazmocycle Posted May 10, 2010 Share #4 Posted May 10, 2010 i put a little oil on the boots and the bottoms of the carbs, you have to start 1 in and wiggle them around as you push down on them. mine has alway be hard to get started but usually goes down ok. RedRaptor22 Posted May 10, 2010 Share #6 Posted May 10, 2010 I had the same problem when I took mine off to clean them, and the same problem getting the airbox on top of them. I had to do what I do every time I can't get something in a hole, put some vaseline on it!
