coil question/help!

is the space between the coils important? my project 86 is coming along, but will never look like a venture again, i need to get some more room inside the frame and thought i might build a new rack for the coils but being an electrical idiot i dont want to mess anything up....so can the coils be placed closer together, how close, touching each other? i know theres a great deal of energy running through them and i dont want to fry something.

First did you move the TCI to the top of the Air Cleaner Box. Thats a big help for space in the area of the coiles.

 

As far as moveing them closer together, should not hurt anything.

Hey Josh,

I ganged up a set of 4 coils on a V4 Honda for more room and the combined electromagnetic field caused some Radio Reception problems but it did not affect the function of the coils. (I have never tried it on a VR) Just thought I would mention the potential problem with the radio.

The only worry is....Don't have them touch each other. Vibration will cause cracking of the coils.

theres no radio to interfere with and the added space is going to make things alot easier. pics will be posted once i get it on the road.
