Best Way to Check Front Brakes...

You can visually see part of the pad from the top and bottom of caliper. As long as you can see pad ( brake material ) between rotor and backing plate of pad you should be ok ? The pads are around 3/16 thick when new. My opinion hope this helps.

If they are over 50 percent worn, order new one's and keep them on hand ready to install. I always have a spare set in the tool box.

 

15 to 20 K is about average life span for front pads. also, don't expect both sides to be worn the same amount. That depends on how you use your brakes.
