Hummingbird Posted July 5, 2009 #1 Posted July 5, 2009 My plan is to add 2 amber led's on the front guard and 2 red led's on the reat guard. My intent is to replace the reflectors that are there now. The question is - Can I safely connect the led's to the existing light relay that I installed for my passing/driving lights so that they will be energized with the ign. switch ?? btw - it's a 30 amp light relay and it's powered from the aux/cigarette lighter and it is fused.

Absolutely.
V7Goose Posted July 5, 2009 #3 Posted July 5, 2009 There is no reason to connect those LEDs to that relay. They draw such low current they will be fine just connected to the normal running light wires. Goose
SteveP Posted July 5, 2009 #4 Posted July 5, 2009 ...and make sure you'll still pass you're state's vehicle inspection without the reflectors (if Ohio has inspections). Here in PA, reflectors are required to pass the annual inspection. Notwithstanding the inspection regulations, I personally don't want some idiot running into my parked bike because they didn't see it in the dark with nothing reflecting back -- just my opinion, I know many here have replaced the reflectors. So I installed amber LEDs along with the front reflectors. Here's a [ame=http://www.venturerider.org/forum/showthread.php?t=36949]thread with some pictures[/ame]. Good luck & post some pictures when you're finished.
