Red Ryder Posted June 28, 2009 Share #1 Posted June 28, 2009 Hey All, over at a couple Harley Buds and we looked on the ground and the rear shock was leaking oil (and yes I was harrased, about how metrics leak oil). The rear end floats up and down like a bober when two up, especially over bumps. Question: Is the standard Rear Shock Rebuildable??? Thanks for your help, Later-
flb_78 Posted June 28, 2009 Share #2 Posted June 28, 2009 Nope, rear shock is a completely sealed unit. Once it goes, it's time to throw it away and buy another. I replaced mine with a factory rebuilt Works Performance shock off eBay for considerably less then a new one and it still has the full warranty!! Freebird Posted June 28, 2009 Share #4 Posted June 28, 2009 It is possible that your bike is still under warranty though. I know it's an '03 model but it depends upon when it was purchased. The 5 year warranty starts at the purchase date, not the date it was manufactured.
