Reaney in NH Posted June 10, 2009 Share #1 Posted June 10, 2009 I want to install a toggle swith to bypass the ign switch for emergencies. I know where to hook up.... My question is. What Amp Toggle switch do I need? Will a 10amp be large enough? Thanks for the help Reaney

V7Goose Posted June 10, 2009 Share #3 Posted June 10, 2009 The main bike fuse is 30A, so that is the minimum you could safely use. Goose
BradT Posted June 11, 2009 Share #4 Posted June 11, 2009 I used a 50 amp but that was all I could get they had 10 amps but I did not think it was big enough. Didn't want to burn up that switch as well. As V7 mentioned 30 should be enough Brad
KiteSquid Posted June 11, 2009 Share #5 Posted June 11, 2009 IF you bypass the headlamp and passing or driving lamps you have installed so they do not come on, which is illegal in most areas so I am NOT recommending it, you can probably use a 10 amp switch if you also bypass or disconnect the carburetor heaters. OR if you use a large enough relay, you can use a small switch that will pass just enough current to power the relay...... say one or two amps.
