jimmyenglish Posted April 15, 2009 Share #1 Posted April 15, 2009 So I bought the firestik and a mount. I'm sure this sounds retarded but how do I connect the wire? Thanks!http://www.kilik.com/antenna1.jpghttp://www.kilik.com/antenna2.jpg
gibvel Posted April 15, 2009 Share #2 Posted April 15, 2009 Can you take it back and trade if for one with a Female PL-259 connector on the bottom? That would be the easiest way. That way you get the mating connector to put onto the wire that comes out of the CB or get a pre-made wire that has a male PL-259 on one end and a (I believe) male Motorola connector on the other (not 100% sure on the sex of motorola) . That would be the easiest of all. What does the bottom look like?
jimmyenglish Posted April 15, 2009 Author Share #3 Posted April 15, 2009 That's it. It just has a bolt. Almost like you'd use a ring connector or something.
Condor Posted April 15, 2009 Share #4 Posted April 15, 2009 That's it. It just has a bolt. Almost like you'd use a ring connector or something. Way back when we used to use ring connectors. The washers isolate the antenna from the ground. Just take a strip off a few inches of the shield and ground it to the mount, and crimp a ring connector the the antenna core wire and place it between the washer and the bolt. Makes for a better signal and not having to worry about the shield grounding the core inside the PL259.
jimmyenglish Posted April 15, 2009 Author Share #5 Posted April 15, 2009 Aha! Thanks Condor! I wonder if I could find a stainless ring connector?
