hairman Posted February 15, 2009 Share #1 Posted February 15, 2009 I have a quarter inch free play on the throttle on my 1999 RSV. I adjusted about 1/8 of it out of my carb. When I adjusted the rest out on my handle bars the throttle will not spring back like it should. If you adjust it back then it will spring back. I have even sprayed cable lube in it. Any advice? Thanks hairman
GeorgeS Posted February 16, 2009 Share #2 Posted February 16, 2009 You should have about 1/8 inch, of free play, after Main Idle Adjust Screw is set correctly. Move handle bars, stop, to stop, and make sure There is some amount of freeplay at all positions of the handlebars.
pegscraper Posted February 16, 2009 Share #3 Posted February 16, 2009 It's impossible to take all the slack out. The cables will bind if you try it, as you found out. It's just the way the thing is.
