  • Welcome to VentureRider.  What started as a simple site for riders of the Yamaha Venture, Royal Star, Royal Star Venture and the Star Venture has turned into so much more than that.  Though the great Yamaha Venture motorcycles are still our primary focus, we have many members who have eventually moved on to other brands/models or who have stopped riding altogether but still remain members dud to the lifelong friendships they have made on this site.

Whether you have questions about your bike, looking for parts, or just wanting to talk motorcycles and riding, this is the place to be.  Our members are friendly and welcoming to all.  My name is Don, Freebird in the forums, and I started this site around 15 or so years ago.  I have met many of our members at our various rallies and meets and some I only know from their posts here on the site but am proud to call them friends, brothers, sisters.  I like to think of this as our club, not MY club.  I try hard to implement features that the members request.  It's not always possible but I do try.

This is a subscription based club.  You can read messages in most cases but can't post, search, and etc. without becoming a supporting member.  We do offer a free 2 month trial however so you are welcome to check us out before paying the small $12.00 per year dues.  Upon expiration of your trial membership, you will lose the ability to post messages.  At that time, you can click on "Store" and then "Subscriptions" if you wish to continue.  We hope you like what you find here.  We have few rules but the major ones are no religious debate, no political debate, and no "X" rated content, nudity, dirty jokes, etc.  We are a family oriented club so please keep things PG or at least PG-13 rated.

    • Start from cold and check the exhaust temps on all 4 cylinders right at the heads. Make sure they’re running close to each other. They run surprisingly strong on three cylinders. If you have a cold pipe start looking at the corresponding coil, plug wire, and the carbs again. These carbs can be finicky to get right sometimes but once they’re there keep good fuel in it and don’t let it set with ethanol in it. And yes they are a blast to ride and very comfortable bikes.

    • Maybe check the compression just to make sure.  These engines have been known to hydrolock.

    • I want to think ya'll for letting me join your club. I've read articles from Venture Rider pertaining to Yamaha Royal Star motorcycles. Let me tell you my story. My uncle of 76 yrs old bought this 2006 Yamaha Royal Star 1300 new in 2006. He loved this bike. His health got bad and the bike was last ridden was  in 2019. He passed away October 2023. To my surprise He left the Yamaha to me. Bike has 15,000 miles on it. Bike looks Great. Ya'll know what happens when a bike sits. I started working on getting it back on the road since Jan. 1st 2024. I've done your typical carburetor cleaning and install a rebuild kit. I've synchronized the carburetors.Checked the ohms on all 4 coils. I still have the same problem. The bike will sputter out of the right exhaust at idle. Spark plugs look good. I road the bike for the first time last Saturday. Its hard to explain, when taking off bike acts like it surge's, but between the surging the bike acts like it wants to go. I read and article from one of your members about disabling the I.R.S. system. That  made a Big Difference on the sputtering from RT. exhaust when idling. But still has that surge felling. I would appreciate  any help getting this bike to run  correctly. once fixed, I think the bike will be so much Fun To Ride... Think Y'all...

    • Today was the 40K mile service.  Always fun stuff.

    • I'm finally going to be home long enough to actually ride some. So, I gave the old girl her annual bath. The plastics all look great, but the wind screen is starting to show the years. I'll likely have to replace it before next season.
