Guest Popeye Posted February 11, 2008 Posted February 11, 2008 I'm looking for tires, mainly Dunlop, & checked the E3 'Radials'. Not much of a choice. Only 3 front sizes & 4 rear sizes. Rear won't work. Maybe I could squeeze a 9 in rim on the rear. 86er Posted February 11, 2008 Posted February 11, 2008 I'm not sure, but I thought the E-3 was originally developed for the 1800 GW?!? You don't have the 86 any more do you? No front E-3 for the 1st gen yet.
Guest Popeye Posted February 11, 2008 Posted February 11, 2008 The E3 radials don't fit anything I've ever owned. The 86VR is waiting in Tampa for a ship to Europe. Ended up with a 97 1500SE Wing [price], but rear tire looks original. Since I never replace one tire, I'll try a set of E3s, Belted. Rear is a 160/80-16 & load rating has been upped to 992 lbs. Front is 130/70-18 & load rating is now up to 600 lbs. With 1592 lb load rating, we can ride 2up without pushing the limit [for once]. With hitch & extra trunk, I need to think serious about weight rating. Me & empty scoot, alone, no gas, etc., are still way over half a ton. Thank goodness nav is thin, but she likes to bring all her 'stuff'. Leathers, boots, rain-gear & cover can be 60 lbs, easy. Cost is $250. per set... + mount & balance, of course. Seems reasonable enough to me. The E3 Belted seems like a good tire. Always used the 491 EIIs before. Many reviews say they whine some, but I can't imagine caring about that. Fitment guide: http://www.dunlopmotorcycle.com/fitmentguide.asp If there's a downside to the E3s, I just can't find it. Actually, I can't find an decent option, except riding 'solo', but nav says that's a one way trip.
