  1. It was cool and very fast! Back then insurance guy asked for a picture and because it didn't have fairings it was not considered a high risk bike. I would like another one some day. My best friend took mine for a ride and when he was done didn't put the kick stand down far enough and it fell over. It had straight drag bars and damaged the tank as well as messed up the carbs. I didn't have the funds or the knowledge to fix it so I sold it back to the guy I bought it from. He still has it to this day.
  2. Thank you for the great info! I will go tomorrow and see what years all three are. Hopefully one will be a newer model. I had a Yamaha Fazer 20 years ago and loved it. I bought a scooter to get my feet wet again and now I want something that can handle highway driving and have room to carry items along the way.
  3. Hi guys! My first post on this site. I hope I am not hijacking your thread but I have a question regarding this exact problem. I am going tomorrow to do a possible trade of my Honda Helix for a Yamaha Venture. The guy has three of them that I can chose from. After reading about the second gear problem I am having major second thoughts. I know for sure at least one is an 84 which falls into the problematic years. Is this problem hit or miss or is it just a matter of time before it happens? Everyone seams to love their ventures but I do not want to get a bike that I am going to have pull the motor or sell the bike for peanuts when it happens. Thanks Dave
