  1. I've already had blood taken twice. The first test turned up low hemoglobin (red cells), and the secnd showed really low Ferritin Protene which is needed to absorb iron into the system and make red cells. What I haven't figured out is which comes first... the chicken or the egg?? Does the iron trigger the output of Ferritins, or do I need Ferritins before I can absorb iron?? I have been reading a lot of I-Stuff about Anemia, and so far haven't found an answer that makes sense. They even talk about the lack of Hydracloric acid and it being needed to digest food into iron?? There are other scarrier causes as well including colon cancer. I don't think this would be the problem as my family has never had a case of cancer...ever. I am taking a one a day iron tablet, and vitamin D and fish oil. And yes I have low testosterone... taking a patch for that. And the thyroids been dead and on a one a day for 30 years , which also has something to do with Anemia. Man after typing this... I think I'm a mess....
Carrying a little more weight that me, and being a few years older Jack, (I'm 67), can start catching up with you too. With the asthma (using an inhaler), and using a sleep apnea machine, it seems like I'm starting to lose the battle. The lung capacity just doesn't seem to be there any more!:crying:
  2. Usually I don't post anything unless it's bike related, but I'd certainly like to get some real time feedback on something that's been rearing it's ugly head for over a year now. According to the Doc I am suffering from Iron Anemia... or lack the stuff in the system. The end result is I have low hemoglobin (red blood cells), and lately can't even mow the lawn without getting short of breath. I feel great as long as I don't move around much... I was actually experiencing symptoms when at Cody, and the altitude didn't help much either. Just wondering if anyone else has gone thru this and the outcome??
I've been having the same simptom's Jack, but asthma is one of the problems, the main problem is that I've been over medicated with colesterol medication of which weakins my whole body. I haven't been taking it for over a month now, and I'm starting to get a little better and stronger. Will continue not taking it as to get rid of side affects usually takes up to 3 months. As is, I have always wondered, outside of having a heart attack, why they were giving me this medication anyway, because my numbers have always been excellent. Here I stop it a month and a half ago, just did my labs 3 days ago, and my total colesterol is 132, HDL 36, LDL which is suppose to be 129 or lower, and it's 62.

I guess you and I have two different cause's, but I thought I'd just bring this up, because several other people I know have had the same problem with a colesteral medicatioi. I've tried several medications, and suffer the same side affects from no matter which one I take. But hope your Dr. can get you back on track Jack, take care of yourself.:080402gudl_prv:

  3. Yesterday some of the O.F.'s in NorCal got together for the first time in too long of a time. Steve (SteveD..aka Hdhtr2000) Dubois and his wife Michell were in town for the first time in 3 years to visit kids and GK's. So what better excuse needed to get together with the old crew. Vic (LoneEagle) Tibs, Rick (EasyRider) Bray and wife Doris, Rich (Rich99) Elliot, and Yours Truly.. :), met up at Steve's daughter Bree's house, and headed off the Red Robin for bugers. We had a great time and the laughing never did seem to stop. We had a few group photos taken in front of the house by Bree which will be posted later. This one was sent to me this morning by Rich99. We gotta do this again...
Yes, and I was kind of surprised when Rod from down south replied from an e-mail I sent and said he would have come up if he knew we were getting together. It brought back a lot of good memories of VW rides. And I think your typing is a little off Condor, one "b" in Vic's last name, and one "t" in Elliott............whoops, another senion moment.:rotf::rotf::rotf:
  4. Anyone have a left over 2ndGen OEM Venture line LED light bar template and wiring instructiions still laying around. Bought a NOS bar locally but the paper work was long gone. I could probably figure it, out and make a template, but thought I'd try this first....
Even though I didn't have a template since it was done at the dealer, we could have looked at my bike yesterday Jack as far as seeing how the dealer hooked up the wiring. I mean yes you have to take off the seat, but from what I remember, it was a pretty easy hook-up. I think he just went straight to the battery for red, and you know ground, but then I guess he just went straight to the stop light. But some like having both 24/7 power on the tail light which I don't like, I wanted it working just like your family car, strickly a stop light, but good luck in getting it hooked up.

  5. Ever since Dunlop changed the way they make tires, its been pretty disapointing and I haven't been a happy camper since. When they made the D404 150-90B, it was a good mileage tire, but when they started making the 150-90 without the (B), I went from getting 24,000 mi. to about 8,000 mi. I did manage to order a another tire, but when they sent it to me, I guess it was on the back shelf, it turned out to be the old stile again, and I got a little over 20k with that one. Since they don't have any more of the old good tires, I went with an Elite-II that I guess they had on the back shelf, so we'll see what happens with what I've been told, that this tire gets good mileage.:confused24:

  6. First 3 sets of tires of the original tire, the D404 got me 20k front and 24k rear.

Then Dunlop got greedy and made a softer rubber D404. Got about 12k out of the front, and just under 8k from the rear, a very mad customer to say the least. But when I ordered my 5th set, I managed to get ahold of the original tire one more time for the rear, and was up to 21k miles when I decided to change it. Can't find the original any more, so ended up buying a Elite II for the rear, first time I've ever steared away from a D404, was just told an Elite II was a good tire and reasonable in price, we'll see what kind of mileage I get from this one.:confused24:

  7. I currently ride an 01 Vulcan 1500 with baffled Corbra drag pipes. I LOVE the sound of the bike. I've read that the RSV with the right mufflers sounds like a V8. How do you guys with aftermarket mufflers find they sound? If I like a bike to have a distinctive sound would I like a V4 with pipes? I realize a v4 won't sound like a single crank pin V-twin. I've ridden an RSV with stock and debaffled stock mufflers. They were both on the quiet side for my taste.
Everybody that has heard my bike, the 1999 RSV says it sounds like a V-8. Put the Baron Nasty Boy's on around a year and a half after I bought the bike along with K&N Filters, picked up 12 more horsepower, 2 more mpg, get 42 mpg, and have gotten as much as 55 without having to re-jet. This is one satisfied customer!! :thumbsup2:
  8. I'm surprised as it has come up before that nobody has mentioned why Yamaha doesn't match the size of the Goldwing engine, make it fuel injected and put a reverse gear in it. I think we've been all been waiting for this to take place, but I guess Yamaha still thinks they have a machine that'll sort of last as long as a B-52.........just making talk. :confused24:

  9. Seems like a few months ago, there was another 99 on sale with only a couple of thousand mile on it. I'm at 104,000 on mine, and it's still doing a great job. It's hard trying to make up your mine knowing there could be trouble with such low mileage on a bike. Got my fall off antenna's replaced with 2003 antenna's under warranty, but since the bike hasn't really been used, just treat them well, and they should stay on for a few years. Good luck in whatever you decide. :080402gudl_prv:

  10. Almost the only www you can find, it got great mileage way back when, then they started making it softer to give you only one third the mileage but your hooked, and still have to buy them in order to get the www. Forget the customer, like in Vegas, everything use to be cheap, but then it became a business, thanks Dunlop. :mo money:

  11. It kind of depends on why it broke. If something was seized or old and despite the mehanics best efforts but was something the mechainc could not help, than that would only be fair .

But if it broke because the mechanic was careless, aggresive or just did not know what he was doing, then the mechanic should pay for it.

Well, that's what happened. Shearded the head off of a bolt holding a plate inside the case and wanted me to buy a new case first $475, but they managed to drill out the bolt and charged me 3 hrs. labor of which they knocked down to 2. They were the ones that put in the last one, so did there machanic get it too tight, again; I don't think I should have had to pay!! :confused24:
  12. Did the orange wire have and end on it? Maybe it's the temp sensor??:confused24: I had what I think you are describing and mine had a wire for the temp sensor.

Digital 5-Function Volt Meter 4-239 http://www.casporttouring.com/store/graphics/00000001/dig_vlt_mtr.jpg Quantity in Basket: None

    Code: 14124

    Price: $21.48

    Shipping Weight: 1.00 pounds

That's the exact same one I've got. It's got the same 3 ribbon wire that Condor talks about, the sensor is on an extra long 2 ribbon black wire, so with what Condor told me, that tells me how to hook it up, thanks again guys.
  13. If you disconnect the power from the unit, does the time reset? If so, I would bet that the orange is for constant power for the unit to retain its memory and the red wire would then be connected to the switched power source so that the unit doesn't draw constant power.

That said. Most manufacturers have instructions on their websites.

    Dave

I bet you might have something, I'll see what happens, thanks for all the help guys.
  14. I know I'll probably fill like a dummy asking, but I've seen these on RSV's before and bought one for my bike quite a while ago, just never put it on, but lost the instructions. Now I'm thinking of putting it in my car instead, it's about 5 inch's long x 1 inch high x 3/4 inch deep and has a combination clock, voltage meter, and outside temp. reading. With the sensor that you put outside to p/u the outside temp. it has 3 other wires (black, red, and orange). I figure black and red goes to grnd. and batt., but where does the orange wire go (ignition?) I hooked up the red and black to the batt., and the clock, volt meter and outside temp came on, but I guess I still need to know about the orange, anybody out there done this?? :confused24:

  15. NOW???
Steve, your bad............ouch.:whistling: If I was chosen for the male calendar, I think I'd look my best if Arnold Swarztnagger (I know the spelling is wrong)..........was put under this good looking face.
  16. I'm gonna stand in line right behind you.... Did I say that???:mo money:
With that much power, I bet the 5 year unlimited mileage warranty is no more unless they beef up the rest of the bike to take the punishment. :255:
