  1. I posted before about my clutch leaking at the leaver. As recommended I cleaned out the reservoir and replaced the parts. However, still have a leak, not near as bad but enough that after a ride I have to refill.

Let set and when I rubbed my finger under the leaver at the connection I get fluid.

Thinking I may need to replace the reservoir?

    Thanks again,

    labill

  2. Went out today and worked on the clutch. Bleed line, no air but no clutch.

Went to banjo attachment like suggested. Held clutch in and released bolt, fluid came out but no clutch. Tried again and the same thing. This time I worked the ----- out of the clutch, released the banjo bolt and out came AIR. Did a few more times and now I have a clutch.

    Never to old to learn.

I want to thank everyone who helped, this is a great site with great people.

    Thank you, thank you,

  3. Could not find anything to cover this.

My clutch master cylinder was leaking, fluid was leaking at the clutch handle and after a few hours of shifting, I would have to refill. I purchased a new kit and new compression washers. I put everything back together the way the old one came out and according to the manual. Bleed line and there are no bubbles, problem, no clutch.

Have tried things I read on our site but still no clutch.

    What am I doing wrong?

    Thanks,

    Bill

  4. Have gone out without anyone in car. As suggested easy on turns and no problems.

Just put on new tires. Decided to go back to the thinner tire on the front that I had before the car. Right after I did that the bracket holding the front wheel stabilizer broke in the garage as I was parking. I decided while waiting for the new bracket to try again without the stabilizer. Was I surprised, no shake or wobble. Must be the thinner front tire.

I am going to try it without for a while. Will keep the stabilizer with me just in case I have to put it back on.

  5. Looks like I dodged a bullet, at least for now.

I drained and cleaned like suggested. Did not see any metal. I will take it for a few runs before I celebrate and head off on our Natchez Trace Trail ride next month.

I want to thank everyone and Freebird thank you for the offer. I will let you know after a few runs if I still need a rear.

    Again, thank you.

  6. I hope to get time tomorrow to check it out.

    Freebird,

Thanks for the offer, hope I don't need to. I was not sure what I was going to do if I did need a new or rebuilt one because it's a V-Max. I needed the V Max upgrade after I put on a sidecar. I lost a lot of power with the stock one. The increase in power and speed with the V Max was if I never added the sidecar.

    Thanks,

    labill

  7. Found the problem. I guess I forgot to tighten the drain plug because it was gone. Feel good that it's not a transmission. If I need a new V Max I hope I did not lose his web site along with the file I lost.

I am hoping I did not do much damage. My question, should I use heavyweight engine oil or stay with the Final gear lube. The gear lube looks like regular oil.

    Thanks,

    labill

  8. Just put two new Kenda's on my 2000 Venture. Changed the Final gear oil while at it.

Went for a ride without any problems. Next day went out again. This time I would get a growling type noise when I let off the gas. If I went back on gas it was gone or when I pulled in the clutch to downshift the growl would be gone.

Bike runs fine, no loss of power, shifts fine without slippage, brakes are good. Any ideas?

    Thanks,

    labill

  9. That's the size I vagley remember. I remeber that steering at slow speeds was nice. I also put on the lowering links, made a big difference. When I had to attach a side car I went back to the regular size front tire.

I won't change the front so I think the narrower tire may help with slow speed steering.

    Thanks,

    labill

  10. I know this has been covered before but could not find anything. I had a smaller front tire on my 2000 Venture and have since put on a stock front. I want to go back to a smaller front, in width for a little easier steering now that I had to put on a sidecar.

Don't want to change trees because I can still disconnect and ride two up.

    I think I had a 130/90 16 but not sure. Any suggestions.

    Thanks,

    labill

  11. It is a 3 step process. Start with a fine sanding of the plastic air intakes then there are 3 coatings that are applied to get the finish. Can be done over a couple days.

The company I used in Otterville Ontario was out of a person's house and they may not do it anymore. If you look at the Superchrome link you can get the kit and do it yourself. There are other options out there too. If you do a search for "plastic plating" or "chrome plastic" you should be able to find a shop local to you that can do it.

    Got it.

    Thanks,

    labill

  12. After I had some chrome work done on my bike (battery side covers and the plastic piece in front of the battery box), David (The Tooch) asked me about getting his air intakes done. These are the black plastic air intakes that come with the 2nd Gen. They turned out great !

As a first run I was able to get them done for $200 (cash, no tax). After doing them, because prep took longer than expected, any future ones would be $250 (incl tax). The company I had my plastic chromed and David's air intakes done is EZ Chrome in Otterville. http://www.ezchromesolutions.com/

They look great. I tried the web link you gave but it is not for a chrome shop.

    Thanks,

  13. I have K&N filters in my stock air cleaners. Looking to purchase the chrome billet covers. Will the stock K&N filters fit or is there a different type?

Anyone know if there are chrome engine mounts available? The ones that have to be removed to replace the front spark plugs.

    Thanks,

    labill

  14. Has anyone replaced the big filter systems on the Ventura. I have planned for a long time to purchase the chrome billets but they are so expensive. I was wondering if the smaller chrome type that I have seen that is designed in sort of a triangle would work as a replacement.

    Thanks,

    labill
