  1. Wow - That blue baby looks sweet! It'll be interesting to see what it ultimately goes for. I had to purge my 1st gen collection earlier this year, but I know the feeling when you see one like this Dan!. Even in that condition I think it's a bit too pricey though.

  2. I was having this discussion with Beer 30 at maint day. I have a camper trailer with 8" wheels. I think the point about slower revolutions on 12" wheels is a good observation. The 8" seem a bit more sensitive to the road. Given the choice I'd go for 12s, but if I found a trailer I liked with 8s I wouldn't pass it up for that reason alone.

  3. Already adopted a Venture wave myself. Since I think the V4 is the defining feature of the Venture I focus on that. When I see another Venture I:

    raise a 2 Finger V... Then

    4 fingers (V4)... Then

    a Thumbs up! :happy34:

'course I probably confuse more Venture jockeys than I connect with, but I feel good about it!

  4. I got a pair as a reward for some extra effort I put in on a big account at work during the winter. My ride to Americade then to Maint day was my first try. While I really like the helmet, I have to say I'm not thrilled with the electronics.

No one at the vendor I bought it from or at Nolan seemed to know what was needed to do what I wanted. I specifically wanted to use the on-bike intercom and CB and didn't want bluetooth or the need to recharge a battery regularly (plugging in my helemt every night just don't sit right with me). Anyway they assured me it was no problem and sent me hundreds of cables and attachments. I had to disassemble the helmets, install everything then re-assemble them. On my way to Americade the mic wouldn't work. Found the Nolan rep there. You'll never guess what he told me...

YUP Another $250 later I now have a battery in my damned helmet which is the only *$&%# way I can use the intercom or the CB with the stupid thing. :shock3: To make matters worse the battery only lasts 8 hours max (which probably means 6 now and 4 or less after 6 months of use). Not long enough for the day-long tours that are typical for us.

To top all of that the stupid thing shuts itself on and off all the time. It's not the install because the Nolan rep re-checked everything and installed the extra (battery) piece when I was there.

I'm glad you are happy with yours, but for me its terrible. The helmet is fine but turn and run from those electronics. The speakers are pretty tinny to my ears too. I'd be completely postal at this point if it had been all out of my own pocket! I'd add a better quality, easier to install and more affordable headset system in the helmet if I had it to do over again.

  5. Hey Jeff,

While I just met you and Mini in person for the first time at Maint day, I've made use of many bits and pieces of the huge amount you contribute to all of us here for quite a while now. I'm sure many others would agree that you are one of the core contributors that ensure that this place seems like family whether we're consistent contributors, lurkers or something in between ourselves. That goes for Mini as well. When there's an opportunity to return the favor it's not difficult to be enthusiastic about doing so. When you've got people like Rough Rider and Squidly (not to mention Don) and others trying to support something like this it's just that much easier.

The only thing you need to do is enjoy it and I'm sure everyone that contributed will be happy to have returned just a fraction of what you (and Mini) have contributed over and over again.

    Ride Safe and ENJOY! :happy34:

  6. I agree with everyone else Don, it's you, Eileen and Dylan that deserve all the thanks. Don't trouble yourself for a minute about what may not have gotten done. I didn't hear anyone voice concern over it and quite a bit DID get done. As you said we can work on a bit more organization for next year too if the goal is to increase output. Hopefully a cooler day will encourage more activity too (MAN it was hot).

I'm also glad you were able to spend some quality time with Gary. I had a nice discussion with him as well. It was great to meet in person - what a great guy!
