  1. Great question...I was wondering too, what is the minimum size of enclosed trailer you would need for an RSV.

I brought my '03 up to Kitchener in a rented 5X9 ramp trailer. It was about 3' high all around - not enclosed, but the RSV fit with about 5" to spare length-wise. I think this would be the absolute smallest trailer size that could close up around it. If it was fully enclosed it'd be REALLY tight! If I we buying an enclosed trailer I'd go with at least 7X10 - probably 7-8 X 12 to give a bit of room for getting around it while securing and for accommodating some gear.

  2. I'd like to see it in Tennessee. Western preferably. Lots of good riding, usually reasonably good weather. Opportunities to create rides covering any of: Kentucky, Illinois, Missouri, Arkansas and Mississippi from there including all of the great rides and destination within Tenn. Also a fairly central location so should be accessibly by many. I think we have a pretty large group of members from that area as well.

  3. I saw a post about two years ago (maybe pre-crash) where someone had luck with carb cleaner getting the gunk off the old brown seats. I tried some Seafoam, but no luck that way. I gave up after getting a parts bike with a good seat. Before you spend a ton of money you may want to try that though. What's the worst that could happen... need to replace the seat?

  4. Had a sidecar that I never got onto the bike. Here's what I learned on some of your questions though:

I have a few questions about sidecars.

Do they require there own license plate?

Nope - Not in MA anyway - never seen one with it's own plate.

Do they have there own title?

Again, Not here. I think it's like a trailer - we don't need titles on those either, just some proof of ownership. That may differ by state though.

Is it a rider on the insurance or a seperate policy?

My insurance just needed it listed as a change. Cost of insurance wasn't going to change.

Do you have parking problems (finding a spot)?

Only guessing here, but no worse than a car in general. May want to stick with pull-through parking spots though since there's no reverse on a Venture. That'd limit your choices.

Are you more visible to the cagers?

A bit but I wouldn't count on it. I had planned to light mine up which would've helped.

How does the hack affect the gas milage?

    Never got that far.

  5. I've never see a truly comprehensive comparison of vehicle pollution. Electricity in the states is mostly produced by burning coal. That ain't pollution free by any means, but I never see that mentioned in any articles about the hybrids. Then there are the alternate fuels that diesel vehicles can burn - I don't know the emission result of using those either. In any case the only foolproof way to reduce individual emissions is to drive less or drive with less consumption of the same fuel. Like, say... riding on two wheels!

  6. We're back as well. It was great to see / meet everyone! I have some great photos and the start of the Thursday ride departure on video. I'll get that posted in the next day or so. I second the big thanks to Reiny, Hal, Daryl and the other guys who helped on the organization and rides throughout the week. It was a great time and Mary & I loved being there!

  7. Here is the weather report (I put it in F degrees for you all) Looking decent right up to Tuesday, but I am sure this will change as time gets closer

Thanks Brad. We've been watching it for a week or so now and it seems to be changing for the better the closer we get to the dates. Worst case appears to be the odd shower - sometimes welcome if it gets muggy! :happy34:

  8. Not to worry Jeff. I won't be selling the bike any time soon but I may have to down size the space shuttle. I have to see how it works out over the next year or so. Maybe I'll sell the ranch and just live in the shuttle. I'd have to get rid of a lot more stuff before I can do that though.

That's good news. I had the same initial reaction when I read the title of the post. Looking forward to seeing you again in Kitchner. We'll be in our Class "C". not looking forward to the fuel bill but whatever it is I'm sure it'll be worth it.

  9. While I am a FIRM believer of freedom of speech, I'm in support of Don & mods on this one. There's a time and a place. Plenty of other places to undertake this type of discussion / argument. This isn't the place as far as I and many others (not all) are concerned. I've seen politics and religion attack great institutions of country, family, friends etc. relentlessly. I'd personally prefer to keep this place focused a bit more closely on it's mission with occasional mild diversions.

I suspect Don & mods would allow and support an occasional FYI link to another forum that exists as a discussion source and to promote awareness of such topics if they're really important to members. Perhaps that's a way to allow all sides on these issues to coexist peacefully and respectfully while supporting their right to express opinions? :confused24:

  10. Could probably pull it off, but I don't think the specs are in your favor. Unlike the car being towed with (effectively) four wheels down, I think you'd end up balancing 800+lbs on two wheels with your receiver / hitch managing the balancing act. The center of gravity probably wouldn't be pretty either. Net, net - it's a cool idea but probably wiser to look at other alternatives.
