  1. Listing removed. Hope he sold it. He seemed like a decent guy.
  2. Well, after some research I decided against the trade. First of all - why wouldn't the guy include the fact that it was rebuilt in the Ebay posting? He told me he sold it twice already on Ebay and the buyers were deadbeats. So, I did a search of past auctions and found that it did sell for 7800 and 8000 but the sale didn't go through. Both people had 100% feedback so I assume when they discovered it was rebuilt the backed out. He wanted me to give him $750 too. I wouldn't sell my Road Star for less than 8500 and I would have to think it over at that price!
  3. I guess I should have said it has a rebuilt title - which means that it was rebuilt. The guy bought it that way for $3000 and then had all the work done. He has more into it than what he is asking - which is the case most of the time ---- like me and my Road Star! It looks like a nice car - but will never be a quality show car. I am just looking for a nice driver.....
  4. I have a guy who wants to trade me a pretty sweet 1980 Z28 for my Road Star but the Z has a prior-salvage title. I know how salvage titles effect the value of newer cars but does it make a difference on a 34 year old car? Here is the car: http://www.ebay.com/itm/Chevrolet-Camaro-Z28-Coupe-2-Door-1980-Chevrolet-Camaro-Z28-/251551764143?forcerrptr=true&hash=item3a91a74eaf&item=251551764143&pt=US_Cars_Trucks I plan to look at it tomorrow.....
  5. He is very happy with his. I have seen it and it is very good quality. You might contact them first to make sure they mount to the Tour Deluxe. If I am correct - the Tour Deluxe shares the same Windshield as the Road Star so they should be a direct bolt on. He got it for less than $300 shipped with two windshields.
  6. I had a friend who bought a really nice Stealth fairing off Ebay for less than $300 and it is nice. It uses the stock Road Star windshield mounts which I think are the same as the Tour Deluxe. It is the one on Ebay that offers two windshields from some trailer place. You have a choice of a fairing made for 2 speakers or 4 speakers. He got the one that works for two. You might check it out.
  7. We just bought a house to flip that has a very nice 24X48 Morton Garage with 1/3 insulated. I tried to talk my wife into moving into it when we are done but it is a no go in her book! Actually, I am down to 3 bikes in the garage and one isn't mine!!!
  8. It depends on how quickly you want to sell the bike. If you want to sell it quick - I would start at 4500. I almost bought a 2000 RSV last week for $4000 with half the miles of yours. What is your trailer worth? You need to sell it to a Hawkeye fan!!! Some people don't want a custom painted bike - others do. Some might want the truck instead of the rack. What will your dealer give you on trade? In Iowa - we don't have to pay sales tax on our trade in value. Something to consider!!! Good luck - looks like a nice ride!!!
  9. My son thinks we need to get a dealership! The state doesn't mind because they get 5% off me that they don't collect from a dealer so by the time I pay my 5% and I sell it - they walk away with 10%! The 2 older bikes I found for my son who lives in Nebraska and he picks them up next week, the 03 Shadow is one I'm selling for a friend - the 99 Road Star is my buddies that I am selling - so I am really down to 2 for me. However, I have owned 4 Road Stars this week - but was able to sell two.
  10. Okay - when the deal on the 2000 RSV fell through - I bought an 03 Roadstar off Ebay from a Harley dealer at a good price. When I went to pick up the 03 - they had a really sharp 04 Road Star on the floor so I told them I would take the 04 at the same price I got the 03. They came back at 500 more - which was 2000 less than what they had it priced at. Needless to say - I brought home 2 Road Stars. As I drove home I tried to figure out how to explain two more Road Stars to my wife! I already have an 08 and sold an 09 last week! My Road Star buddy came over to help unload and fell in love with the 04 so I sold it to him for what I had in it! He got a great deal and it was easier to tell my wife I brought home 2 bikes! Now I have my buddies 99 Road Star in my garage so I can sell it for him! Here is a picture of the inside of my garage!
  11. There are four in my garage now and I still need to pick up that Road Star!!!
  12. Well, when the 2000 RSV didn't work out I was browsing Ebay this morning and bid on a Road Star sure that I would get outbid and I didn't! I now own my second Road Star and will be picking it up either later this week or next week. http://www.ebay.com/itm/2003-Yamaha-Road-Star-Silverado-Used-/151275064311?pb=2&&pt=US_motorcycles&autorefresh=true
  13. Well, I may have missed out on the deal - the bike is 5 hours away and he has a guy coming tomorrow to look at it. It will probably get sold as the price was good. If this guy doesn't buy it then he will hold it for me.... we will see! I really don't need another bike!!!
  14. I am working on a deal for a 2000 RSV and I will know more once the pictures are sent. The bike is priced right so we will see. If so, it will be the 3rd 2000 RSV I've owned.....
  15. Sometimes I fall asleep during my sermons and wonder what I just said... Does that count??
  16. I do get some good jokes for my sermons here!!!! Of course - there are a few on the edge that i can't use. Ha! Thanks for all the encouragement and I signed up again yesterday. I am blessed to have so many good friends and I do look forward to the day in heaven when we will finally meet one another (if not before) and live forever in perfect relationship.
  17. I hope it works out for you and you get it. If so, since you already got $12 worth of info be sure to join this great forum! Great people - great information - and you have all the information you ever need about your new ride!
  18. Thanks ---- Sometimes I think this group needs a legion of pastors!!
  19. Wow - I was just saying a nice goodbye but you have convinced me to hang around and rejoin. If I am not here as much I won't get teased by Mike! You are a great group as this is the best forum I have belonged too. Thanks for all your positive comments. I have been eyeing an 03 Venture about 30 miles from here. It has less than 20,000 miles and he wants 7000. I tried to get him to trade for the 09 Road Star I bought to sell - but he wasn't interested.
  20. Really --- hmmm -- I got my first Venture 10 years ago and I thought I joined them...I'm getting old!
  21. I thought about that as well and $12 is some of the best money a person can spend and I'm blessed and can certainly afford it. What leans me towards not renewing is at some point I need to find ways to cut back on much of my social media time. As a pastor I find people expect me to respond via social media instead of phone calls, or even emails today. I have 703 Facebook friends and only have time to quickly scan Facebook. I would close my Facebook account but as I mentioned - this is how many of my people communicate - and there is an expectation. I had a gal mad at me last week because on my day off she emailed me in the morning and I didn't respond to her immediately. It is the world of instant communication and expectation of immediate responses. Anyway - it is a time issue. However, you have me thinking and I might click the button and renew but spend less time on the forum. I'll need to check to see if we had a good offering yesterday too!
  22. I think I've been hanging around this forum for a little over 10 years and have loved every minute. The people here are awesome, caring, and have become like family in many ways...good ways! I wonder how much money I have saved over the years by not having to take my bikes to a dealer? There were times when a member would call me and walk me through a problem with one of my bikes or to give me advice. For those moments I am deeply appreciative. I have kept my membership even when I haven't owned a Royal Star and continue to visit the forum several times a week. However, with my subscription ending I have decided not to renew at this time. There is always a good chance I will be back when I purchase another Royal Star - and another Royal Star - and another. For those who know me, and tease me - I purchase and sell vehicles just for the fun of it. My current ride is an 08 Road Star that has been my favorite bike thus far.. Anyway - you are some of the best people I have met in my 62 years on this earth. I wish you God-speed and if you are ever crossing I-80 near Des Moines - I live in Newton, - be sure to give me a call. Thanks again!
