  1. I came home from work today to see the long awaited package at my front door. When I opened it, it held a pair of Baron bag slash pipes and eyebrows for the faring that I had purchased from WIKD. Since it is winter here in Michigan I couldn't wait to spend some time in the garage doing something to the neglected beauty. So my second gen. got a new set of pipes put on today!!!!! I had to start by listening to my stage IV road king pipes, and then proceded the switch. My face kinda resembled this:big-grin-emoticon: when I started it up with the Barons on. Then I proceded to do this.:dancefool: Now my wife knows she has a monster on her hands since it is supposed to be in the 40's here this weekend. Round about March or April it will be getting a new paint job and then it's all ridin' until winter 09 when i'm sure i'll find something else to do. A HUGE THANK YOU TO WIKD for giving such a good deal on these.:thumbsup2:

    Thanks for listening.

    COME ON SPRING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  2. How long ago did you install the passing lamps. Had a simular problem not that long ago with the turn signals, turns out they were hooked up backwards when I installed the passing lamps. However this http://www.venturerider.org/forum/showthread.php?t=23163 was a thread that I posted when I ran into my lights going dead and popping the main lighting fuse. look and see if it may help you. Also if your passing lights have been installed for a while you may check to see if there are bare wires where the wires start into the light bar or where the come out and go into the faring. (pretty common problem in those places also.)

    Hope this helps.

  4. If the pics were in an email you would have to save them to your computer and then add them as attachments. Otherwise you'll be the only one to see them.

OK thanks for that. I'll try to remember that for the next time. I appreciate the help.

Look at the picture above and y ou can see where this driver

broke through the guardrail, on the right side of the culvert,

where the people are standing on the road, pointing.

The pick-up was traveling about 75 mph from right to left

when it crashed through the guardrail.

It flipped end-over-end bounced off a nd across the culvert outlet,

and landed right side up on the left side of the culvert,

facing the opposite direction from which the driver was traveling.

The 22-year-old driver and his 18-year-old passenger

were unhurt except for minor cuts and bruises.

Just outside Flagstaff , AZ on U.S. Hwy 100.

Now l ook at the second picture below...

If this guy didn't believe in God before, do you suppose he believes now?

I am HAPPY this wasn't the end, but hope it scared some smarts into the driver.

  7. I was concerned about the whine when I was considering this purchase as well. I bought used though, not new, without a warranty. What I found was that my bike has a slight whine, but is something I got used to very quickly. I don't even notice it much any more. The reason I decided to buy however was because these bikes are bulletproof. I heard more good than bad about them, and I know the reputation of this companies dependibility. I have not been disappointed so far, and you get sooooooo much more for the money than any other bike out there. Not to mention that several of the riders have sooooo many miles on them without having to do anything other than routine maintainence. Some have over 200,000 miles on their second gens, without anything other than routine maintainence if I remember a thread that was posted recently correctly. No need to worry in my opinion, but it is your choice.

    Hope this helps.:080402gudl_prv:

  8. I am going to repaint my 99 Venture with 2007 blue and black colors, so when i went to the dealer to get paint codes, they told me that this site http://www.colorrite.com/ was where yamaha gets their paint. I believe you can get the names and paint codes by clicking on motorcycles and selecting the year and model for any yamaha you are looking for paint codes for. Many others also. Hope this helps!:080402gudl_prv:

  10. FLH mufflers are the same and will work just fine. Check your part numbers to make sure you are getting non catalyst mufflers. You will need Squidleys mounting plates for a good mount, and some clamps.

I have run these on two of my Ventures now... they are a great deal and give you a nice deeper sound, without extra noise.

If you do get a set with cat's you can break them up and remove them. It is just an extra step and a little more work, but definitly worth it for that nice deep rumble.:big-grin-emoticon:

  11. Now that is AWESOME!!!!!! Pretty soon I am going to get ahold of you to go for a ride. Can't have that thing setting around, it needs to be broke in. Since I have had nothing but offers of help from you, I would like to get together and actually meet in person for a ride!!! What are you doing this Friday, or possibly Saturday afternoon? Leave me a message if this works out for you.

  12. I replaced my headlight with the H4. Last night I went out for a ride to check it. I got better visibility when it was in low beam than when it was in high beam. I checked and both elements are lighting up on high beam so I know the bulb is okay. I adjusted the headlight both up and down and still get the same results. Is it possible to put the H4 bulb in so that it would be 180 degrees out (or upside down so to speak)? When I look at the bulb on high beam it seems that the high beam filament is below the low beam element.

It sounds like you have it in properly as the reason for the high beam being below the low beam is that they get more angle on the light prism. Think of a 2x4 laying on a ball, now push one end of the 2x4 to the ground and the other end points up (bright lights) and vice versa. My question is do you have the headlight visor? If so mine is the same way as the light reflects back down when it hits the visor. Hope this helps.:080402gudl_prv:

  13. You might want to have a look around the steering stops for the steering head....they tend to work like wire cutters on any loose wiring.

Well Neil, you hit it right on the head. Those wires dont like to be in between the steering stops. I cut the wire and reconnected it together with a water tight butt connector. Then I re-routed the wiring between the inner fairing and a support cross bar to keep it away from the steering stops and steering head, and zip tied the heck out of it. Then I replaced the head light fuse and all is great again!!!!!!!:big-grin-emoticon: So, knowing the rules I snapped a few pictures of the new passing lamps installed, and also the pilot brake light bar I also installed this weekend. THANKS FOR ALL THE HELP YOU GUYS!!! There is no other place I have ever gone to be able to get this much help without a price. You guys are the best.
