  1. I raised my bars a little bit, they are pretty wide and long. Didn't have much of an issue with doing that but now you got me wondering about the difference between simply raising the bars vs Rox risers? Any thoughts on that, why is one better than the other?
  2. Yes, that's too bad. It would be great to increase the rev limit by 500 rpm. Well, I guess it's a good thing the (claimed) 126 lb/ft of torque comes in at a super low 2500 rpm. I bet the extra hp comes in handy, generally speaking I like PCs. Admittedly, one of the things I love about the Venture/Eluder is that it runs AWESOME without an aftermarket fuel manager, so the PC5 is mostly a performance mod. Once I get loaded up on the other accessories I've been eyeing, I may take a second look into at PC5. Thanks for the info!
  3. About your PC 5 install, any info about raising the RPM limit? DynoJet website says: "You can get 500 RPM more than stock just by checking the box and enabling the Rev X-tend feature from the software. Some Fuel and Ignition PC5 units that have a pre-configured Rev X-tend feature that gives 500 RPM more than stock include units for Harley Davidson, Victory motorcycles, and many Honda, Yamaha, Kawasaki , and Suzuki models that only have only one or two cylinders." Just curious.
  4. I'm loving the linked brakes, the handling and the torque! Now that I know intuitively where the rev-limiter is, the big twin and I are getting along nicely. For what it is, the engine is very smooth. The 6 speed is great and I agree with you about the heat, sometimes it's noticeable, sometimes not. So far so good.... One thing that is annoying me a little is that the non-height adjustable mirrors. I'm a tall-ish guy and I moved my handle bars ever-so-slightly up.... but now my hands are directly in line of sight with the rear view....not sure how to fix that. Do they make mirror extensions?
  5. Quick review on TAB B.A.M. stick slip-on exhaust. Not that the stock exhaust doesn't already sound great, I was looking for a little bit more....something.... and these certainly have it! As far as I know, currently this is the only option if you want to go aftermarket. Fortunately, TAB is a well-known company, great products, excellent customer support offering a few choices for Eluder and Venture owners. I went with the powder coated black mufflers with slash cut tips. Install took less than an hour and I'm thrilled with the results. I opted for the 1.75 baffles which is their quietest option. I almost chose the 2.5 baffles...I'm glad I went with the quieter ones. They are definitely louder than stock, I love the way it sounds and I'll probably leave the quieter baffles in the pipes. That said, you just can't go wrong with this product whether you choose the quietest or the loudest baffle option. I think you'll be very happy with the overall quality, ease of installation and especially SOUND if you're looking for something a little louder. It's crisper, deeper and much more authoritative than stock. TAB has a couple videos on their website dedicated to the Venture/Eluder, one for installation and another for choosing the correct baffle for your riding style. Check it out.
  6. Hi all. I've been experimenting with windshields on the new Eluder. The OEM medium windshield works great in terms of getting the wind off of you but I found has more buffeting at higher speeds than the short windshield (mostly noisy). I had great success in eliminating most high-speed buffing by adding on a visor. I tried a couple different products, I settled on the Puig. It provides relief from buffeting and doesn't obstruct my field of vision. Highly recommended.

  8. Some initial impressions. Just completed my first long-ish ride, with mixed driving. 20 miles per hour, up to about 80 miles an hour, in the city, near the coast, up in the hills. I did a little bit of all of it over couple hundred miles and several hours. The engine. I have had a lot of bikes with imperfect fueling, lots of experience with Power Commanders and map modifiers and such. I'm happy and a bit relieved to say, the fueling on this bike is wonderful. It's been a long time since I've hopped off a bike at the end of the day and thought the engine was fine the way it was. Yeah, the red line is a bit low, but there's so much usable torque where you need it without drama, it works great for this bike. I kind of had to remind myself to short shift a few times instead of looking for more power in the higher RPMs. At the end of the day, the engine and I were getting along famously. The wind protection. I have the short windshield which is fine at low speeds but not so much fun at highway speeds. Actually did not find the buffeting to be that bad, more like noisy airflow. I ended up using earplugs later in the day which made a huge difference. I've already ordered the medium windshield, we'll see how that works. The handling. I test drove in Electra Glide and an Indian Chieftain before purchasing the Yamaha. Hands down the Eluder is easier to ride (and smoother), the Indian is a very close second. I'm trying to figure out where Yamaha put the 800 + pounds of machine ?! This bike is easier to handle and more confidence inspiring to ride then the spec sheet implies. Absolutely zero complaints with the size of the bike or the handling characteristics. Funny, a lot of people who haven't ridden these bike seem to point out how heavy are... after you ride it, you realize quickly it's a non-issue. I wouldn't go so far as to call this bike a sport-tourer, but holy smokes it a pleasure ride, nice job Yamaha! The Heat. The engine heat is noticeable. Probably more so than many water cooled bikes. I've had bikes with heat issues before, you sort of learn to live with it. I think the jury is out on this detail for me. That's said, a really hot day in stop-and-go traffic, I can imagine it being an issue.... I may look into the accessory vents, see how that might help. Overall, I'm not super concerned about it but it's on my radar. Okay, what else can I say? Aside from some idiosyncrasies, Yamaha did an amazing job with this ride. I'm super happy with it. Still fine-tuning things. As I rode today, I imagined putting some info out there for other people on the fence with this bagger. You just can't go wrong with this bike. I'm not sure how much of Harleys business Yamaha will capture. It's not a domestic product and there's just no way of getting around that. But, for anyone looking at these bikes and objectively comparing their merits, the Venture and Eluder seem like solid choices.
  9. That is super interesting. I had no idea that dealerships would outsource that kind of work third party... I talked to the dealer, sounds like they assembled the bike. I was told my feedback would go up the chain of command. That said, I know there are lots of parts on a bike but there are only a handful of critical items that has to be done right. Axles and suspension related items are on the top of that list for me. It was my first purchase from this dealer. My overall experience with them was excellent aside from this detail.
  10. Hi all, I just purchased a new Raven Black Eluder. Already started reading over the topics, just wanted to say hi! Trailered it. Ok, yea I know I probably should’ve ridden it home, but was a 7 hour drive and I just didn’t want to risk it on an unknown bike....Glad I made that decision if you read my first reply to the front axle issue! That said, it was an easy fix and I’m really looking forward to the bike. I love the way it rides and looks. The GPS does seem a little wonky, but the rest of the “info” screen seems feature rich and pretty slick. Going for a long-ish ride later this week, the shake down.
  11. OMG. Just purchased a new Eluder this past weekend. I took it on the maiden voyage today, which was mostly awesome except this, I noticed a “clinking” noise and weird sensation at the front wheel. On closer inspection it turned out the axle pinch bolts were loose (!) and could be turned my hand. Fortunately I had just returned home after a 10 mile drive on the HIGHWAY, got out some tools and tightened everything up. Turned out the axle required tightening as well. I called the dealer and let them know, but I’m not sure who to blame it on. I was just reading through the forum and was totally shocked to hear that someone else had the same issue. I thought it was just a fluke but I wanted to share my story too. I have had many motorcycles over the years, I’ve never heard of loose axles or pinch bolts being a theme.....weird.
