  4. The first trailer I bought was one of those. Never towing before I thought it would be to big . After pulling my bunkhouse all over the place I was wrong

I never did tow it. What you need to do is load it up and take it out riding for the day. Maybe a day with some wind. Then you can form your own opinion.

That trailer will hold a heavy load. You will need to watch the weight . Only you can decide if you are comfortable pulling the trailer.

    Be safe

  5. since you will have it apart.

I would just remove both side muffler and bags it s easy.

With everything off. remove and grease up the hub splines, Change the rear diff oil . pull the drive shaft and grease up both ends, check the rear shock for oil leakage, The shock can be replaced with the tire on or off . Its a good time to replace brake pads if needed. Putting the rear tire on solo can be a pain, Sometimes it just does not want to line up you can put some blocks or a small jack under the tire to take some weight off.

When putting the drive shaft in on the forward side , You need to make sure it is into the joint up there it is very easy to miss. First time i did it I did not see the big deal it went right in The second time it took several attempts. In or not everything will go back together . It would kinda suck to get it all back together to only have to take it apart.

This forum is a great source for info

    Plenty of good mechanics.:bowdown::bowdown:

Want proof just ask what oil to use then sit back and wait

    Be safe ...

  6. I know some people don't like them. I have been running Metzlers in my 06 Tour deluxe for 9 years and 3 on my Venture with total satisfaction.

anywhere from 14000 to 19000 miles outa them

You need to run the proper air in them I run 41 in the rear 38 up front . every time I bring them in for replacements The shop guys comment on how well worn they are.

Most of the time riding 2 up and I pull a trailer

I recently switch to the Avon Cobra on my venture to try something different. The Avon cobra has a 15000 mile warranty . They handle nice also

    That's my 2 cents

  7. Go to Custom Dynamics and look for Run, turn brake adapters, or follow this link, http://www.customdynamics.com/tailconversion_kit.htm.

Also look at their LED taillight boards for the Yamaha products.

If you go this way please consider using one of my breakout "T" harnesses found in the classified section so you do not have to cut any wires on your bike.

I put the dynamic clusters on my Tour Deluxe . My flashers are now Brake, blinkers and running lights Those light are bright

  8. Thanks for the post . I read it a few days ago when I was rebuilding the petcock in the Venture.

So today working on the RSTD the brass nipple pulled out.

You guys all saved me from having an OH **** moment.

I pushed it and gave it a little tap with a rubber mallet it it was fixed

    Glad to be a member.

  9. NO NO NO .....

I had my shock start to leak and figured I would just wait till it died.

It went and it became unsafe. The rear will start to whip on the way up. Like riding a POGO stick.

The shock on my RSTD went on my in NC the ride from NC to OH pulling a trailer was horrible .

I put a Hagon shock in the Venture last year . Very easy job to do

I would not take a trip like that with a bad shock

It may last you . If it doesn't the rest of the trip will not be all that fun
