  1. Post some pictures

Check the tires -- replace the if that old

I would check the condition of the screens - Mine is an 05 I have a few patches

Pack the bearing when you buy it

don't think to long if you think it is a good deal

  2. hey dave...i'm from steubenville....do you know anyone there originally? where do you plan to ride?

campfire12 lives in Wintersville he just recently picked up a book

He was looking to hit some stops

Dan is his name Send him a PM

I was talking with Robin about a meet and Eat in Marietta OH in July some time

Down at the Boat House BBQ

I will post the details soon

  3. Robin and I have hit 35 stops and about 1000 miles

We have met some cool people

    Found some new roads

We get to see how the locals are either in a Bar ,Dealership or Restaurant

Today we went to Bucyrus Oh found a place with home mad Brats

Not a big fun of them . I have to see these are good

Also Bucyrus is known for its bratwurst festival

Then the Crazy fox saloon just a biker bar friendly people

Well it turns out it was a speakeasy / hotel Al Capone used when he visited from Chicago

The basement is still as it was in the days all the booths have brick dividers

Two tunnels to get out on either end

    Keeps you from getting shot

    It been there since 1916

    Something different this year

  4. My 06 RSTD New 160 miles to reserve

That was short lived I have 52,000 on it now

no one has been able to figure out the mystery of low MPG

Highway speeds are very poor back roads a little better

Still 30 mpg if I'm lucky

    25 mpg pulling a trailer

Almost the same mileage as my 96 Jimmy

    Not Stayin much

Synced carbs / new plugs / sea foam / fuel filter / air filters / spark plugs /

Tire pressure / regular oil changes

    The only thing I changed

    I am running Metzler tires

Running these same tires on my venture with great Mpg

The RSTD is due for tires so I may try something else and see what changes

    Checked for air leaks

    Got some opinions from members

    2 dealers and no input

Only thing I have not done is carb rebuild

Figure it out pass it on

    Dave ....

  5. Robin and I hit 8 stops today

Total of 210 mile we covered just about everything from Marysville Honda ( that F6 B is Sweeeeet) down to Hocking hills motorcycle ranch. The day started out a little wet

A stop at Iron Pony for Yamaha demo days no rides till dry so we moved on

( no Ventures either ) It seemed every place we hit had a venture to sell

With the exception of the only two Yamaha dealers go figure

    Just a fun day

Next week head out to Steubinville Oh for some great roads and hit another group of stops

Anyone want to meet up PM us

    :thumbsup2:

  6. Now that I have 1 of each..

    They run very different

My 2006 tour deluxe purchased new in 06

I have never been happy about the feul mileage on the RSTD

I remember the first time I hit reserve 160 miles

From the on it slowly degraded to 120 - 135 this woul be about 4.5 gallons

Pulling a trailer is another story that's to be expected

    I have ..

    Current miles 52,000

1up or 2 up same results

    Tried all grades of fuel

Tire pressure 41 rear. 36 front

Run sea foam half can twice a season

    Changed the plugs every season

    Carb sync 2 times

    Semi synthetic oil

Check the filters replace the filters as needed

Changed the fuel filter 3 times so far

    Fuel pump 3 years old

    I run metzler me 880

Now the 2000 venture I recently bought..

    28,000 miles

Saturday was the first long day out riding about 300 miles

Fueled up one time fuel light was on for 15 miles --- 185 miles a little over 4.5 gallon

    Same - tires,oil,plugs,

The thing I do notice is the venture is A little rough ridding in 5th gear than the RSTD

The same after a tire replacement

I know it's an OD gear mostly when I get around 70 mph I use 5th or on long flat runs

I would like some input on what I may do if anything to improve the range on the RSTD

Does anyone have input on the 5 th gear vib on the venture

    Thanks guys

  7. Needed a rear tire replaced

I take a ride over to the dealer I use and like

Talking about tires I use the Metzler 880

He has one in stock which he never does

I asked can you do it today turns out he is short handed and does not have the time

his helper has been out sick all week and he has 3 things to get done

So I ask what if I help ya get the bike you are working on done and then put my bike on the lift and I can take it apart I will learn something and you get your other stuff done

    Well he agreed

I learned how to change out my rear wheel

    Now I want a lift

That was nice and made the job much easier for sure

    :thumbsup2:

  8. roll and ride

    http://www.ridinon.com/home/home.htm

Ridinon mag has this going on

This is the first time I have heard of it

I have to say it looks like a great way to get out and see the area

I am thinking the Friday b4 Dons MD of getting out and hitting some of the stops in the Cleveland area

Memorial Day weekend maybe the Cincinnati area down to Rabbit Hash KY

A meet up and a day of riding hitting some stops with some members would be fun

    :smile11:

  9. Looks good. I just twisted my brackets from the clamp to the speaker until the speakers sat horizontal. You'll like the sound at speed tucked in behind the windscreen......Thumbs up!

Went out tested it sounds great while on the road

I did have to re wire it connected to the battery caused a loud buzz when I exelerarted

So I connected it the the acceressory plug under the seat

    Worked like a charm.....

    :thumbsup2:
