  1. for what its worth, you will be pleased with them. i think most of the heat i am getting is from a vacuum like effect that sucks the air up but the wings blow air back between my legs and the engine,, i would say money well spent. only problem is, that there is only one set left in the USA.. and I know who has them LOL.. beachmont motorsports in Cincinnati oh.
  2. another thumbs up for the utopia from me,,i cant ride 50 miles without a back rest and the yamaha one just looked to short for me
  3. i think the heat on mine is being sucked from the mufflers forward to our legs when we slow down..
  4. sorry its been to long to reply but sometimes work gets in the way. i believe the o ring is the sillycon type, and also it was to small and there are no groves for it to fit in. the o ring needs to just fit inside the lip on the outside of the fitting and when it is squeezed it will not be able to squeeze outward and be rested on the lip of the cooler fitting. the o ring that was in there went around the hose lip very loosely and when pressure would build up it would "push the o ring outward thus making it smaller to where the oil would get past it.. i plan on going to the dealer with the o ring and ask for another and just see what they put on the table. I have since added the lower wind wings and bought a drivers backrest and this bike is becomming mine and Bevs. we are getting to love it now. just need to figure out the noise which i think it the egr valve under the left cover.. thanks for all the support..
  5. no, the fitting was tight. it has an o-ring and the oil was seeping past the o-ring so I pulled the front tire and fender so I could see and cleaned it all off with carb cleaner, saw where it was leaking and removed the oil cooler and the lower fitting. i had a set of o-rings and replaced it with one of mine a little thicker, still leaked, so I happened to find a rubber washer 10 thousandths thicker than the oem o-ring and cut the washer to fit where the o-ring goes..after a 100 mile test ride today, no leaks...I am happy.. as it turns out the oil cooler where the o-ring goes is machined crooked so I am going to have them order another one and compare, if the new one is even i will try to get them to swap it out under warranty..iif they fight it i will just pay for it..
  6. here at Americas Motor Sports in Nashville i just bought my SVTC for 7 grand off list. right off the show room floor. the yamaha dealer in Clarksville has a couple on their floor also..
  7. Well folks before i continue I am still upset with Yamaha because of this issue I am having. After calling every dealer here around Nashville, Tn. the quickest I could get it "looked at" was a month out soooooooo.. I pulled it into my shop and put it on the lift and went to work. off with the front tire and fender and tried to determine where the leak was at. best I could come up with is the lower oil cooler hose at the fitting where it connect to the oil cooler. cleaned the fitting, used carb cleaner and wiped it dry. started the bike and held it at 2500 rpm's for about a minute and yep there was oil on it.. I am pretty sure this is the only leak but I will update again after I get it back together and make a test run. I got so upset because of the guy in Ca. that had to get a new bike and I was sure i would miss this riding season but as of right now I want to thank every one for the suggestions and help here. I am an ex mechanic and am anal about keeping my stuff nice and clean, especially my toys... Sorry for putting my frustrations on here and again thanks, Jess Tolbirt White Bluff, Tn.
  8. thanks Rich, much appreciated, I am going to try and find which dealer around here would be the best to take it to. I dont trust others working on my stuff and the dealer i bought it from is over a month out just to look at it...I poked around last night and the whole front end will have to come apart to be able to see where its leaking from if they can find it, o well it is what it is and I will keep you guys updated..
  9. got a set of the lower wind wings and installed them, they work great..now i have to re-install my stock mufflers and take it back to yamaha,, oil leak, bad!!
  10. well as it turns out Jesse T has problems and is so pissed off at Yamaha he is going stir crazy. this brand new bike has an oil leak worse than any Harley i have ever owned and i will be taking it to the dealer probably tomorrow and my riding season will be shot to hell. a few decades ago i saw this girl and her looks were out of this world,, well i took her home and a few years later we got divorced, i lost just about everything. a few weeks ago i saw this Yamaha and her looks were out of this world so I took her home. after riding both of them the ride was great, the engine not so much, and now i don't trust either one of them..very disappointed in Yamaha to say the least. i am to old to miss what riding time i have left. i did solve the heat issue, those 300 dollar lower vents work great my Corbin seat is being shipped today and it will probably never see the bike as i am thinking of cutting my losses and getting another Harley.. 800 miles and back to the dealer, i did the 600 mile oil change, that's when i discovered the leak. o well enough rambling but Jesse T is still here, Mobil one 15-40 wall - mart 33 dollars for 5 qts. advance -auto was going to be 78 dollars i will let you guys know when i get back on the road,, i just have a feeling this riding season will be over for me because the dealer here is a month out before he can even look at it. and at my age i dont have many riding seasons left..
  11. i am having trouble posting Du-Ron asked what happened to me , well as it turns out Jesse T has problems and is so pissed off at Yamaha he is going stir crazy. this brand new bike has an oil leak worse than any Harley i have ever owned and i will be taking it to the dealer probably tomorrow and my riding season will be shot to hell. a few decades ago i saw this girl and her looks were out of this world,, well i took her home and a few years later we got divorced, i lost just about everything. a few weeks ago i saw this Yamaha and her looks were out of this world so I took her home. after riding both of them the ride was great, the engine not so much, and now i don't trust either one of them..very disappointed in Yamaha to say the least. i am to old to miss what riding time i have left. i did solve the heat issue, those 300 dollar lower vents work great my Corbin seat is being shipped today and it will probably never see the bike as i am thinking of cutting my losses and getting another Harley.. 800 miles and back to the dealer, i did the 600 mile oil change, that's when i discovered the leak. o well enough rambling but Jesse T is still here, Mobil one 15-40 wall - mart 33 dollars for 5 qts. advance -auto was going to be 78 dollars

  13. it says remove links from my message then i can post, well i aint got links in my message
  14. this isnt meant to be a smart ass responce just FYI. since 2013 i have had 7 new harleys from road king to cvo road glide, and cvo electra glides,,never an oil leak out of any of them. I really like this yamaha but like as stated above when you dish out this kind of money for a bike you expect it to be perfect in every way. I havent taken the bike in yet as i dont want to miss out on riding season but if it leaks enough it could get on the rear tire and cause my wife and i to have issues with the pavement.
  15. my serial number is 1071, not sure of the build date but am thinking 11/17 or something like that.
  16. I just did mybreak in oil change at 600 miles and I too have an oil leak just like yours. I have ordered a few accessories for this bike and am at the point I may just resell them and take my losses and go back to Harleys. at least they have never given me any issues like oil leaks...really disappointed in Yamaha and this bike rides so smooth. but with the heat and the oil leak i am at my wits end...
  17. I am new to this bike also, i have 300 miles on mine and as far as the heat problem goes i took off the mufflers with the cats in them and installed my old CVO harley stock mufflers so this thing could breathe and the heat is almost all gone now, 90 degrees out and it was a pleasure to ride today...
  18. almost exactly what i was thinking, exhaust related like a leak.. today i was at the yamahaha dealer and this is a guy working there that has one of these 18's, has 20000 miles on it and he has the same noise since day one so I am gonna call it normal and try to quit worrying about it. now i have to figure out how to make the navigation lady talk to me..
  19. Howdy yall!! new owner here for a week now. i have been on harleys since 2013 and saw this star venture on the floor at a yamaha dealer and i thought i wanted it worse than a cowboy wants a horse. its an 18 model i so far have only one issue with it in 200 miles. when i put it under a load it sounds like the butterfly is clacking on open and close in the efi related to the speed of the engine. i dont think that is what it is but makes me think it is in time with the rpm of the engine. this hammering is loud enough that it is all i concentrate on while riding it. my harley 107 was a whole lot quiter than this thing. doesnt make the sound when off the throttle, just under power. could i have an exhaust leak under there? on another note, the heat is unbearable, can the mufflers be de-catted from the front side of them? i have read every post on this forum and saw nothing that related to my issue.. thanks guys
  20. Uh Oh, as you can probably see this is my first post, so bear with me here. Michigan? my second wife was from Marquette so I can now see the problem you are having.
