    Hi guys,

I have a 2018 Eluder, and just hooked up the Freewire to go along with my 20S Evo. I have my phone connected to the bike, and the Freewire connected to the 20S. Everything seems to work as I can listen to tunes or directions with the 20S, and I've taken a few phone calls without issue, BUT I can't get voice commands to work thru this setup. I press the PTT button and talk but nothing happens. What am I doing wrong?

    Thanks for any help!

Curious if you figured it out or moved on, what I found was you have to just tap the button not hold it, but I don't use it much to begin with and I haven't even tried it since the software and map updates, so I don't know if even works for me now either.

  2. I unfortunately have experience in this . . . this is the first big bike I have owned and it killed me to drop it but I was able to get it back up by myself and I'm no muscle bound behemoth, but I also think it is about how mad you are when you dropped it that gives you the strength, lol . . . they are correct there is a strip along the bottom of the bags that is replaceable for such moments and the guards up front help as well.

  3. I, oddly didn't get anything stating that since there was no charge, I don't know that they even put anything in the system stating for sure what they did, I will check, but yes I believe they did loosen that as a part of trying to "reset" everything and then retightened back up to spec.  The oscillation is obviously more noticeable on smoother surfaces, like freshly paved so very little bumps and you can really tell the vibration is from something off, but on older roads where the bumps are more prevalent then it would be hard to tell.  The thumping, like I said has substantially been reduced with all the loosening and tightening they did, but it's more on the rougher roads now, but I have only had it out for about 60-80 miles since they did the work, so I might be able to get out this week or later this weekend and see what is going on.  I will check the tires and the pressure with a gauge, the TPMS says 38/38 when i left the dealership yesterday, by the time I got home it was 40/40.  I think it's supposed to be 41/41 but I will check.  Thanks for the input.

  4. Ok, so . . . I took it back to the dealer and they "think" they found a small lump in the brand new front tire and replaced it.  They also say they loosened all the steering bolts, front and rear axles and retightened everything and had me come get it and take it out to test it.  The thump is gone for the most part but I still feel it when I go over larger bumps and some larger transitions but I now feel it when it is the back tire going over the said bumps.  So replacing the tire removed the wobble which is great, but now they created something new.  While riding around 70-75 I feel a vibration oscillating from left to right in the handle bars.  I will feel it in the left, the right then gone and repeats.  At those speeds it is roughly a 2 second rotation on, it's not horrible but it's new and shouldn't be there and if I take my hand off one of the bars and I see it vibrate pretty good.  They, however, can't seem to feel it and pretty much have washed their hands of it, told me to take it somewhere else to get a second opinion and if they find something to come let them know what it was . . . I was thinking sure thing, I'll give them the bill for the other shop too.  😕  Plus it appears they screwed up the lid for the gas cap it now rattles and sits crooked.

Any thoughts now on the oscillation?

  5. This is hard to explain but I'll give it a try.  When riding I can hit bumps and obviously feel them through the handle bars and sometimes the foot boards, other times I'm not so much going over a bump but more of a dip or transition from a bridge back to pavement and it is a slight rise, but it's smooth for the most part, I feel nothing in the bars but I still feel like something thumped the bottom of the bike and I feel it in the boards.  The best way to imagine it is if I had a rubber mallet attached to the bottom on a spring and sometimes it has enough tension to swing up and hit the bottom.  I know bad example, but I can't seem to figure it out and this has been an issue for a while now and no one can seem to "recreate it" yet I can everytime I leave the service shop.  Anyone having this experience?  To me I almost thought it was a motor mount that when I went over these dips and such that the motor was slightly moving but they swear they have checked them each time I mention it and still nothing.

And then a new development, I was starting to get a wobble when I would make turns, like at an intersection leaving a light or stop sign and it would have a bit of a wobble as I was turning, but straight it was fine.  I thought since it was time for a new tire I would get a new one, did so and now I have a slight wobble on the front all the time now.  Some how they let it go like that saying it was all good . . . thoughts?

  6. The owner's manual for the Venture lists these exact tires as OEM. That what was on mine when I bought it brand new.

I don't know when I went to get new tires they quoted me for the price of the ones "for the goldwings" and then they found that there was another Bridgestone tire that was the actual OEM for this bike and it was 360+ just for the rear . . . I about lost it. But since it states that it an OEM for Goldwings they wouldn't put it on . . . that's why I had to get Dunlop involved.

  7. Wingstuff has a good deal on a set (front and back). Plus, Bridgestone is offering a $60 rebate.

The problem I had at the dealership where I bought my bike, is that if they don't specifically say they are for this bike . . . even though the load/speed ratings are the exact same if it doesn't say it will work for this bike they wouldn't put it on. I had to call Dunlop they verified with their engineers and then reached out to the dealership stating so, they are also changing their info to include this bike in the fitment options. So while the Wingstuff site has a good price some places won't do the work if it's not specified to work on that particular bike. In one way I get it in another if it's the same exact numbers as the OEM then why won't they do it.

  8. Is it possible to use VOX Intercom between Dual 30K headsets while connected to the Star Venture Infotainment System as well? I want to turn off my intercom on the bike so I can use the PTT button just for the CB. Any tips on settings or the proper way to sync the headsets would be appreciated.

I haven't yet, I would like to know if anyone has purchased the wired headsets that are offered for these bikes and if they are having the side tone issue. Because if they are not then it is absolutely a Sena issue and they need to figure out how to fix it.

I did that with my 20s, of course I only had the one freewire for me. But I was connected to it as a primary phone. So connected it first and then to avoid the issue with my phone echoing in I connected it as a secondary. Then connected the 2 20s receivers through intercom as normal. So while I was riding and listening to music the only issue was I would have to make noise first before I spoke or say "Hey" just to activate the mic because for some reason the first couple of words of what I was say to my wife were missed. I am about to get her a Freewire here soon so connecting both like that may be difficult I'm not sure. I know that the PTT button for her is kind of out of reach she would have to lean over a bit and push the button to talk and that is an annoyance when we went from having free communication to now having to push a button, kind of a step backwards.

  10. Shinko makes a set that will fit.

Yeah, I have been told they weren't all that good. Are you running them?

I spent the day talking back and forth with Dunlop and they have the Elite 4 which their engineers finally said yes they will work on the bike and have the correct fitment, so they are changing their documentation to reflect as such. That tire has been listed at 233-239, not as good of a price as the c/t but better than the 300+ for the OEM tire.

  11. I have used both of those sizes in the Bridgestone tires, radial. They both work with no issues. I only got about 10,000 miles out of them so I am currently trying the Dunlop E4. Only have a couple of thousand miles of it so can't give much info on it yet.

Yeah, my dealership couldn't seem to get info for the Dunlop . . . I had to call them directly and talked to a rep. The dealer ship said they would need something in writing showing that the tire actually would work, wanting to make sure of the fitment for this particular bike. The rep at Dunlop got with their engineering dept and got the ok stating that yes, it would work and they sent stuff to my dealership. The Dunlop rep did say they were going to change up their documentation to actually state it is for this bike as well.

Are you running Dunlop on both front and rear. Since I only got 12,000 out of my rear but the front looks like it could go another 12,000 I'm only changing out the rear, just wondering how much of an issue that will be.

  12. --

I'm at 10,000 miles now and have 4/32" tread left on my rear tire. I should need a new one by 15-16,000 miles. The OEM Bridgestone cost from the dealer is well over $300. so I won't be using one of them. In fact I'll be switching to the Darkside and put on a Bridgestone DriveGuard run flat car tire in a 205/55R16. They cost about $135. from Tire Rack, are radials, and being run flats, are much safer than not in the event of a blowout. That size is also slightly larger in diameter than stock so it will put my speedometer pretty close to right on.

Unfortunately I already switched out my front as my OEM got a non-repairable cut at 8,000 miles. My replacement there is the same size as OEM but a rear tire with twice the usable tread.

Curious it's been a while since this post and would like to know how you are liking the tire on the bike? Any issues with the speedometer, TPS or anything in general? And did you have a motorcycle shop put it on, I have heard that some places won't do that.

  13. I know I have seen posts in the past about the tires and the pros and cons of dark siding . . . and I do not want to deal with going to the the dark side at the moment. So with that being said I am finding that there are limited options for the tires for the 18 SVTC, so my question is has anyone strayed from the 200/55/16 to a 200/60/16 and what kind of difference would that make, would it even fit and the last question . . . radial or bias?

  14. I'm not sure about the media either, I haven't used it since September . . . I will be out soon and check it myself, but if I remember correctly, you don't have to have it off, as the previous comment states you just need to adjust the squelch. It may help to go by a truck stop and check there most drivers have theirs on while in the lots, another thing would be stop by a CB shop and test it with them or your friends that have their radios.

  15. Is anyone with a SVTC using the CB? I can't seem to get mine to work ( admittedly it is the first time I have ever used any kind of CB) I even put it on the universal emergency channel (9) as a test and couldn't get a a hold of anyone. I have it turned on in the settings, I can hear myself through the headsets, but going through the channels and trying to adjust the squelch, they are either static or quiet. I am doing a two trip to Alaska this summer and the guys I ride with use CB's to communicate out on the road. Any ideas? I'm probably doing something wrong, but not sure.

I am using the Sena Freewire and my CB worked fine for my trip from Ohio to Colorado . . . I did keep it CH19 and and was able to hear chatter about accidents and so forth, but it doesn't seem to have much range I couldn't tell you exactly how far the range was but it was just a feeling. It could also be that everyone was quite around me too . . . but I was able to use mine. Since you will be riding with people in your close proximity then you should be fine as far as range goes.

  16. I have the 18' SVTC and purchased the luggage rack for the trunk lid and received it yesterday, since you have to drill holes to mount it I'm not seeing any type of rubber washer or grommet that would help seal the holes in the truck lid. I know it's a 2 layer set up but I'm sure if water gets in between the two it can still cause issues. I have yet to put it on but I was just wondering if anyone else has this accessory and what luck you have had with it?
