Woo hoo Bob! Looking forward to riding to Nelson with you and that fancy rig!!!

A few new scoots, for Bob, over the last few years. I wonder, what he will be riding next year????
Could Bob, be in spending the kid's future inheritance mode???? No idea, but he needs to have some fun.

Hey all my Canadian friends,
I have some questions for you folks about Calgary. If y'all can help me out with cool places to go and see. Give me some ideas here so I can pass it on to him....Thanks
Depending on what he is into http://www.bombercommandmuseum.ca/ located south of Calgary.
Or http://www.vulcantourism.com/?txt=spock-days-2012 Too bad, he will be too late for this one. This one is southeast of Calgary. But here some other info on this town http://www.vulcantourism.com/?txt=news http://www.vulcantourism.com/?txt=media-kit

Sorry, Scott. I failed to note that you had a 1985 bike, so my suggestions may not be applicable. Maybe could be made to work, though?
Here's another that should be applicable to your bike, though. It's the cord from the amplifier to the false tank for the driver. It's NOS Yamaha and while I can't guarantee that you can get it for starting price...
Yup, he could get only 1 cable for $??.?? + shipping, or the YV-41 install kit (both cables, noise filter, ect) for $51. + shipping.

Talking about People staring.....try riding with The Muffinman when he has his PINK chaps on?
Grump & I were lucky, Muffinman didn't wear them, during our stay there, but we did see the chaps.
-
So if a guy had an 86 with the connector mounted on the false tank cover... what kind of head set would he want to purchase?
There are a few to choose from, like EDsets, J&M, maybe a few other makes. With the J&M, you will need the 5 pin lower cord, to connect the headset itself to the interface cable & there are various models of headsets to choose from.

Thanks. Looks like they have been removed then. I'll have to see about getting the parts to hook them back up. Nothing up front at all and have checked the back for the passenger and it just isn't there.
Scott
An option that was probably was not ever installed... You need the install kit.

The 83,84, and 85's don't have a controller for the passenger, that was new thing in 86. Your 85 would just have a 5 pin wire going to the back where the passenger can plug in. It's a separate plug into the amplifier. Amplifier has 4 plug in's 1 driver, 2 passenger, 3 tape deck, 4 radio. The radio looks to be part and parcel with the amp, but if you look closely, they are 2 separate units tied together. -
Here is whats left of that tree. Don't know who that lady is... The Warden said she would kill me if I put that pic of her on here..
Yup, not much left, to dispose of. If she asks, you wanted to show me the tree, which you did.
BTW does she still upload the pics for you???? If so you should be safe.

That old man showed up again. I'm getting a little fed up with him showing up unannounced.
Has Wildhair started making the rounds yet, or are you looking in the mirror again????

I'm not sure where the original mounting position was/is because the front portion had come off. I'm thinking it's suppose to secure to the fuel pump mouting bolt but when I screwed it in it seemed to be rubbing on the drive shaft housing.
I did "Google" it and it looks like I do have the original R/R...
I marked the pic below with where I think it should mount. Is this what you were refering to regarding the two holes in the frame?
Really appreciate the help!
Nope, your not mounted correctly, lower on the front end & roughly even with the front of the fuel pump. It sits lower than the top of the bottom frame tube & ahead of the sub frame attachment point.
Ok, I see Gary has the pics covered (as per normal)......

Do the turn signals self cancel? Yes..not sure if time or distance triggers it.
Both/either. The owner manual says 10 seconds (while moving) or 400 feet- whichever occurs first.
See blue.
Combination of elapsed time & distance, for self cancelling. Otherwise you will constantly be turning signal on, while waiting at a light.
-
And I had to look!!
At least, it was not you, this time (the ugly weather vane on the garage).......
-
Has anybody seen the warden other than yammer???! Im just saying.
Yup, Grump & I was there at Dan's, last year....... I also talk with her, from time to time, as well, if she is the one picking up the phone. There are other members, that have met her.

It seems that Tom and this woman came out of their stall
Something tells me this wasn't good if he was in a stall:rotf:
Also, Tom probably wasn't wearing a feed bag, while in the stall. In one end, out the other....

You're fine Bongo.... one more cup of coffee should do it.
He had one on the bike.
It fell off in garage, can't find it.
He wants to buy another but knows the one that fell off will show up... eventually.
When he finds it .... he will pay it forward to another in need.
Ahhh Red Bull!
Mike, you & I both understood, what was said.
Bob has been geting slower in more ways, since getting the 2nd gen & then triking it. Bob, you need to get Goldie, up & running again, before it's too late.

29. Not many of us younger guys around, but from what I can tell we are the mature ones.
Of your age group, yup.
Some of us grow older, but resist growing up. A neighbor of mine, considers himself, a 71 yr old, demented juvenile delinquent.

Did someone mention Gremlin Bells???
Speaking of Ding a Lings (Hi Eck), how is Freebirds stash of the VR Bells doing these
days..... Yes, VR has custom made Ding a Lings, for the scoots, order them from Freebird.
-
So they wouldn't cancel their other event EH??? did they know that it's FreeBirds event weekend,,, did you tell them that there were Canucks coming,,,, did you tell them,, oh never mind, Bob don't like us talking about him.
We'll be there!!!!
Maybe it was the table dancing, last time?????

Just my opinion but I'd say the shop ain't trying very hard. These seem to quite available.
If they find one badly worn, it would be best to replace them all or you risking doing the seal again.
Mike
After the first couple of years, yamaha started listing the bushings seperately from the fork tube itself.
These guys, are not thinking to check other years, as in all 1st gen listings, or aftermarket (racetech).
Mike, I agree, do them all, while it is apart this time...........
-
Hey,
Had the local shop pull the front fork to replace the leaky seals and they came back to me with news that the lower guide bushing needs to be replaced and they're not sure they can find it.
I've looked around (online) and have found a "metal, slide 1" available from a number of places but no one lists the guide bushing. This is the one at the bottom end of the inner tube... it's pressed on to the tube.
Anyone know where I might get one??? Help... I can't ride till I get one cuz they won't safety certify the bike like it is. And I REALLY want to ride.
I'm almost in tear every time I see a rider go by... help, please...
Mark
Look at a different year (same upper tubes), PISTON,FRONT FORK 3JJ-23171-00-00 this is from an 85 listing. This bushing is not pressed on to the tube, but opened slightly to slide it into place. The 83 did not list them seperately, as well.

Or an 1800 in the twisties...
You just try keeping up to Scotty, around Nelson BC.
-
I'm pretty sure my 2nd gen would keep up pretty well...
To a 1200 Wing................

The Bull Frog Inn may have better bug control, Butt the Pond Monster Motel has better BIG game hunting..........

A rock salt load to the central brown eye, could be veeerrrrrrrry interesting...........

This will probably last a full 30 seconds before heading south, but having spend over 30 years in federal law enforcement these types of incidents really ring my bell.

Initially before reading the link, I thought you were reffering to the 4 cops sentenced from 38 to 65 years. For the shootings of unarmed people, during Katrina. Heard about that, on BBC world news, during my trip home today.

now Paul ....FYI ... at my age, shaking my head is about all I have energy for....
You're not quite as old, as Russ or Jack (they rode dinosaurs, back then).......... So you must of rode chariots, in the days Centurian was a rank & not a tank.....

Sure looks like Don's memory is failing, not remembering the shirt, or recognizing the Muffinman, the year before. So Mini can have fun, plotting next years surprise, for the rest of us to see. Don will probably completely forget about the surprise, in an hour (if that long), of it even happening.
