Know what Vr.org needs? An official club house ! Maybe we should choose Freebird's place as the official location?
As for who you ride with and what you wear.... if you join a group that insists you wear something that shows you are a member and says "thou shalt not wear anything else"... and you disagree with this.... walk away from that group. No point arguing about it, even if the "President" of the local is a dick... enough people quit and someone somewhere will change things.
I prefer the casual "membership" we have here. Wear what you want, discuss (almost) anything you want (with the exception of a couple dangerous topics that always lead to trouble). Think the only rule our "local" group has is that when MarCarl leads... expect u-turns and gravel roads...and Carl parking his bike on its side.
Like oil type / brand & tires..... I guess, MarCarl added that in to the rides, since 2007.

A couple months ago, I was reading some posting, concerning Ignition Coils !
Question: ? Sombody made mention that on his 2nd Gen, ( don't remember what year ) he had changed the Ignition Coils to some kind of Plug Over type Coil. ??
I assume he used coils from some other type of bike. Does anybody, know, or remember which member this was who made this posting ??
I have this type of Ignition Coil set up on my Busa, and am very interested is makeing this modification to my 08 RSTD if this is possible.
Anybody remember this information, ????
I'm thinking that this mod might help reduce " Ignition Noise" in the AM radio system ?? ( well, maby it will ) :detective:
I think it was Dingy that did it to his bike.

I find that tiny little ding comment to be a form of sexual harassment. Not to mention TMI !!
Gary
Sorry man, I didn't mean to imply you were a leaker and/or tiny...............
Gary, usually leaks info & pics, nothing else (that I have seen)...

Since I have retired, I have one of those lists too. Problem is I write and the list gets lost somehow. Why is that?
I am so happy for you Bob, you deserve some free time!
Yama Mama:bighug::bighug:

I'm sure others can easily top this.... but.. how far out of your way have you gone to get somewhere?
For example....
- went to a Tim Horton's 22km away but put 145km on the odometer
Did about an extra 8,500 miles, to get to last years Cody International rally, from Vancouver Island, Via Pakidaho, Grandpagak,Youper, Big Tom, Yammerdan, Minimuffin, Eck & the Sleeperhawks, Randya & SGN, Wrongway. Missed Snaggletooth by about 8 miles, but we were not leaving the air conditioned room once we checked in (we were wiped from that days ride).........

Yea... what they say about the pictures !!
and Rocket is the best with advice and help. Like they say ....he is a real sweetheart ! lol
I put it into thermostat bypass mode, after getting the check ball to finally move & ran the bike for a while.
Another friend of mine & I started his jeep a little later (bypassed the fuel tank first). This jeep has not been started in about 12 years. Today, we did some more carb adjustments, set the timing, broke the clutch disk free & put the rear wheels up on ramps. Another weekend we will pull the jeep fuel tank, for clean out or possible replacement, depending on what is found during checkout. Now in planning stages, for the re-build of the jeep brake system.
:mo money:
But his wife & daughter is happy, that the jeep project is now underway........ :thumbsup2:

How bad is the fork seal replacement on a Gen 1? Also is there a preferred seal to use? I was going OEM dealer but if there is a better one I'm game. Don't want to do this agin too soon.
A PITA, like any other fork seal change out.
Use OEM, as at least some of the aftermarket ones don't fit properly & how many seals do you want to try (buy).

I just got back from running around town. Found a Facet 42s. Going to hook it up now as soon as I figure out the flow direction thingy. Got to check the pics on the other posts relating to this.
Thanks for all the help guys and gals!
I was just talking with his daughter, they left a couple of hours ago or so. Apparently Rick did it himself (maybe with guidence from Big Bob or his wife / mechanic). There may be hope for him yet & this can be a test of his repair job.

I heard there was some minor flooding in the low lieing areas. Just enough to keep the gals out of the shopping malls.
Finned guards on patrol, I see.

I recently purchased one and installed it myself. Installation was difficult as the mounting holes/slots in the shield just don't line up. Needed to really push hard on the shield to get it to conform the the bike mounts, and had to be extra careful to not cross thread the mounting screws.
That was an old stock windshield that you got, I had one like that back in 2006 & destroyed it shortly after (took out a deer). They had a batch, where the rear holes was out of position & the bends were not quite enough. I had gotten others since that 1st one in 2006, with a proper fit.

Roasted Owl, is missing from the menu.
But it will probably happen, near the fire.........

Looking to see if Stebel has a distributor in Canada. A location I had purchased mine from before no longer lists it on their product page. Went to Stebel's home page and the banner says "we are now back in business".

I have seen them on the shelf, in the local Cdn Tire.

Heck Rick... I think Marilyn could keep up with the "BIG BOYS" on a Honda 150.
But as for the Vstar 1100, you are right on the money...... Almost as good as the Virago 1100....
Yup, she could probably pass you, while riding on a 150, without any problems.........

Evey now and then I would get a whiff of acid.
Sounds like battery being over charged & maybe even being boiled dry. That is normally the only time the acid can be smelled, due to extreme charge rates.

Any word from Pakidaho, Ride2much, NRXtreme or Idaho Ron concerning the fire in Idaho?
A week ago, the smoke was coming from the mountains between Salmon & the pass into Montanna, we drove thru. Pakidaho is south of the town of Salmon. I'm guessing that it is northwest of them, from my sightings.

Do you really want to see a bunch of snowbirds on scooters driving around naked?
GOOD POINT! I have to go puke now! :rotf:
Especially, if they are "in shape" like Russ..... Yes, round is a shape.......... :bang head:

Tim
I got 1 in Wainwright AB & also in Victoria BC (for 2 bikes), so the Deka is available up here (they just cost more).

I need a little help on my 1989 Yamaha venture royal 1300 the air comp panel doesn't come on most of the time
It will come on once in a while buy its self but it has no display most of the time.
I have checked the plug it all looks fine. Have any idea what I need to do?
First off it is only powered up when the key is in the Acc position. It then performs a self check, before you can check or adjust, the front or rear pressures.

good luck pal.. and be safe:thumbsup2:
This years ride ended in Nanton, south of Calgary. With transmission problems occuring with the 83. Currently the bikes are at CalgaryRider's place & Grump & I are at Pakidaho's in a rental car. I am still working out a plan for the 83. But just before departing on this years trip, I was offered a 85 (with 2nd gear out) & 86 parts bike in the Wainwright area.

All the Canadian Tire stores in town stock and theur parts-only store called Parts Source has it too

Military Retirement
in Watering Hole
Posted
Well, on this coming Friday, I will be retired from the Military Reserves. Sometime next year, I will be undergoing retraining over in Alberta. There is no big rush to do it, as I don't want to do the training, in below freezing temps. I still need to decide, on where I take the course, near Red Deer or up at Ft Mac.
