Thanks for the great Pics Peggy, really hated to miss this one. Thanks to whoever set up that tribute to Yammer Dan, it was a beautiful picture.

Awe man I go away for a few days and miss all the good stuff? Was laying in a hospital bed at UPenn having a stem cell harvest. Sorta puts alot of things in perspective. Really sorry I missed MD and seeing some of the nicest people I have met in the last 12 yrs. Well maybe not quite as nice as those Oncology nurses.

One more thing I forgot, on the Baggershield. I tried one and the line where the 2 sections overlap was rite in my line of site. Drove me nuts, sold it after one ride. If you go that route take some meas. to be sure that line isnt going to bother you.

I am about your ht, so I will throw in my 2 cents. If you have the stock windshield your hands are gonna get wet, if you have a wider aftermarket like I do your hands stay pretty dry. Bobs idea on gloves is very good. If you are moving along at say 50mph and above you really dont get too wet on a RSV, usually just from my knees down. If you are in alot of stop and go you are gonna get wet. I tried cutting my shield down, its easy to do but I got so much buffeting it didnt stay on for more then 2 miles. I have the tallest widest Clearview and I keep it polished with Honda Polish at 60mph it stays pretty clear with rain beading up. Everyone I talk to says the Vmax rear is the best bang for the buck in performance upgrades, but there are lots of others.
As always good tires properly inflated on wet or dry roads.
Good Luck, Craig

Try to get in touch with Eck on this forum, he will talk you step by step thru alignment of rear end, and he his a great guy to shoot the bull with.

I pretty much agree with Amercian on the current sound, although I did contact both Cobra & Vance&Hines and asked if they had any plans to develop or produce something for the new Venture. Both responded “not at this time”.
I have been curious how that 1854cc would sound if I removed the baffles from the current stick pipes. All this on my end is just curiosity. Yamaha sound division actually “tuned” the sound of this exhaust and frankly it’s very nice. You can hear it softly with a nice deep note and it comes alive when you’re hard on the throttle, but after 9.5hrs straight in the saddle from Pennsylvania to North Carolina it was not bothersome. My buddy in Pennsylvania who rides an 2012 Ultra Classic whom I went up to see has a different problem on his side. He has some aftermarket pipes on his that have a great sound for the first 20 minutes. He had to confess that after us riding all day through the Pocono Mountains his ears were ringing.
Just like so many other factors, desiring more or less sound is as individual as preferring blonde or brunette!
Hey you were up in my neck of the woods, if you get up this way again let me know. Would love to see your new scoot and treat you to your choice of beverage. Glad to see you enjoying that beautiful bike.

Well then you have 2 other options, find a girlfriend about 6'5" with legs that go on forever and have her put her feet down at stops. My wife wouldnt go for that, so I went with option #2 a trike:thumbsup:

Had my 87 seat redone by Rick Butler, he narrowed the nose of the seat and also took out foam to sculpt a deeper bucket for lack of a better term. It helped some, but like you I only would put my left foot down on most stops. I also remember someone on here going with a lower profile tire. The seat work by Rick probably lowered me 1.5" Had the bike for a few years, I never dropped it but I never really felt comfortable on it either. I went with a 2006 RSV with a Corbin seat, could flatfoot no problem.
Good luck, Craig

Glad to hear she is home and doing well. A few extra pills a day is alot better then a procedure.
Hope things continue to improve.
All the best, Craig

I would be interested in the same thing, you got dibbs on the first one we come across but I am in for the second:mo money: Hope someone can help us out.

First I would make sure the tank vent is clear and not causing the tank to vapor lock, when it stalls and you safely pull to the side of the road remove gas cap and listen for the sound of air being sucked into the tank.
Second I would check to see if I hear the fuel pump clicking to fill up the carbs while the engine is cranking, it sounds like the fuel pump bit is on its way out. That is a common problem with some RSVs, You can just replace the points or replace the whole pump.
Good luck, Craig

Nice job Ron, I figured you would just make your own wind deflectors, but the passenger footpegs worked out really nice. They dont call you the "Wiz" for nothin:clap2:

Pretty sure Stardbog lost a windshield on the way to MD a few years ago. Part of my annual maint. has been to check those screws and also holes in windshield. Gotta be pretty scary watching that thing come flying rite at your head, glad you didnt go down.

Thanks for the prompt and helpful replies.
I'm going to change the overdue oil/filter then take the test ride.
I’m also going to change to a calendar basis for changes rather than a mileage basis,
unless I start traveling again.
I changed oil/filter 5 times in 2016 (due to mileage) and 0 times in 2017.
I rode very little last year.
Again, thanks for the good suggestions!
John

I have a similar grill to the one you pointed out on ebay, sheet of decorative chrome. I guess I bought it for both looks and protection. Never had a problem with bike overheating, and I never punctured the radiator with my front fender, never even knew you could? Must have been one helluva pothole. I was more worried about a large stone doing some damage.

I had about 40K miles on my Corbin seat. The person I sold the bike to is still using the same Corbin seat its been about 2 years. They do make a very nice seat, the quality is very good. That being said, you either love it or hate it, very few people in the middle on Corbins seats. I always got a kick out of their advertising that says it takes xxxmiles for seat to conform to your butt, I believe it takes that long for your butt to conform to their seat! It does take some time to judge and get use to their seat and I hope you are one of the guys that "love" it. I think I will call BS on not letting anyone else ride on that seat, I let lots of people sit on and ride my 06 and I never noticed anything different. I was also in the I "love" it camp with Corbin, did about 900 miles one day and could have easily gone another 100 for the Iron Butt.
Hope ya like it, Craig

I have the tallest widest clearveiw with vent, I look thru shield but wife gets very little buffeting. I have the shield for at least 6yrs, my vent works fine. Stays open when I open it and closed when I close it. The only time I wish I could look over my shield is in the pouring rain.
Good luck, Craig

Hey great to hear you like the bike, as afar as seat ht, you can have Rick Butler a forum member rework your seat to narrow the front nose and dish out the seat . He will get you low enough to flatfoot. You can also look at a Corbin seat, look for a used one they pop up all the time. You either love em or hate em but the will lower the seat ht a good 1.5 in.
Once you remove those pipes and replace with Harley pipes I bet that popping goes away. They have a nice soft rumble that deepens with age and they are cheap!
I never road a bike with heal toe shifter before my RSV and hated it just like you, but was told by some on here to give it a chance. I did and now I love it and wouldnt be without it. Makes shifting up and down so much easier. Just dont buy boots with long shoelaces:bawling:
Enjoy the new scoot, Craig
