Blue sky, thank you for your post. I'm having same problem. 2002 RSV 135k miles. Every time I change a rear tire, my brakes got worse. Now will not slide tire on dirt. I just used my vacuum pump to change all fluid and still looks like bubbles coming into the clear line. I have run about 4 or 5 oz thur it. Any other advice. I have never rebuilt a master cylinder. Thank you.

The MC is very simple.  Nothing to rebuilding it.  I disassembled mine but the seals looked fine so I didn't use my new kit.   The RSV is notorious for having a too powerful rear brake so something is definitely wrong with yours.   I would bleed it more and if that didn't fix it I might put new seals in the MC.  Is the caliper working smoothly and releasing quickly like it should?  You might need to rebuild the caliper.

  2. And another but belated Happy Birthday to you Freebird!  Hang in there.  In a couple more weeks I'll be 81.  I'm still kicking.  Three times a week I do 45 squats, 30 situps, 45 pushups from the knees, 30 pullovers on my Total Gym on the highest setting and 45 arm curls on my Total Gym on the highest setting.  I had the flu recently and lost my appetite and 10lbs.  (still weigh 230lbs) I've since been eating less and much of my arthritis has disappeared.  It's time to dust off the bikes and get them roaring again!!

  3. I replaced the carb boots on my Kawasaki because they were cracked.  But, when I removed them I saw that the cracks did not go through and they were not leaking.

Those POD air filters change the jetting requirements.  In other words bikes don't usually run right when you use those.

  4. I had a 2002 F150 (14 years) and a 2005 Dodge Magnum (17 years) until last year when I had a temporary lapse of sanity and bought a new 2023 Nissan Titan Pro4X.  Being 79 at that time I didn't think I would be buying any more vehicles but.....   It only took a half day to sell the Magnum and 3 days to sell the F150 so I lucked out there.  I have to admit I'm loving the new truck with all its options I never thought I needed such as interactive cruise control, blind spot warning, Apple car play, and the 360 camera system.  And it has the best stereo I've ever had in a vehicle.   Waste the kids inheritance!

  5. I lived in Homosassa, FL north of Tampa for a year when I worked contract at the Crystal River Nuclear Power Plant.  I really liked that area and would be happy living there.  But, it appears that area is going to get a 10 foot surge from this storm that could flood the whole area.

  6. Sunday my daughter and family and my ex-wife got power back.  So their lives are mostly back to normal.  They even got cell phone service and the internet.  Actually my ex was on a Verizon plan and had cell phone service most of the time.  They were without power and water for eleven days.  The well pumps were 220 volts and the generators only supplied 120 and it would have taken an electrician to hook it up anyway.  So they were very fortunate compared to a lot of folks in that area.

  7. Congratulations on the new truck.  We older guys take a little more time to embrace the new turbo charged engines.

My son rented a RAM Rebel with the new "Hurricane" 3.0 L turbo in line six cylinder 420hp engine while he is in NC helping out his family in the mountains.  He loves it.  Says it had plenty of power.

  8. My daughter and her family and my ex-wife live a few miles south of Hendersonville, about 45 minutes from Asheville.  They lost power which also cut off the water since both homes had their own wells.  Otherwise they did okay with no damage.  I'm recovering from Covid for the second time and could not go help out but my son in CA flew over and brought two generators and has been helping them.  My son had to take some detours but was able to get to them.

I read that it will be Spring next year before I26 north of Asheville will be opened and fall of next year before I40 will be open.
