  1. Hello Bob,

This is Erik Zornes in Indiana,

sorry i missed your calls, i tried to call back, left a message .

Heres what i did, I looked at my old voltage regulator , where the three wires need soldered my buddy did a terrible job on one of the wires. I recut-spliced and soldered all 3 ac wires and been riding for 2 days seems to be fine. although the wires are warm

none have melted, I dont know if this is normal. anyway i will keep close watch,

p.s. if you have not sold regulator I am still interested in purchasing yours.

    thanks again

    :lightbulb:

I'm glad you got it figured out, :thumbsup2::banana::cool10:Happy Riding.:7_6_3[1]::7_6_3[1]::7_6_3[1]:____________________:7_6_3[1]:
  2. PM me with what you want for it, and include the lower right fairing vent if you got it, mine decided to depart this world last week on the way to Ohio.

    Dan

I've been relooking at the mascot and I see a way I can fix it and fit it in on my new paint scheme on 87VR, but, I don't know make me an offer that will talk me out of it. I've got enough projects. The vents are already on ebay and current bid is $4.99.

  3. Can't help on the carbs and mileage, but the lights look good! Question, though. Do they run straight off the switch or are you also running thru the accessories circuit with a relay so that they go off when you turn the bike off? That way you don't forget to turn them off. Makes life a lot easier!!

    Dan

    Dan,

I'm about to add some running lights to mine can you send me some details on connecting points.

    Bob

  4. To further un-cloud my mind maybe I could be directed then to this Musical sub-Group that has escaped my attention to this point.

To try and clarify the membership approval dept, that would be our Moderators.

Maybe it is away beyond me of what you speak, but I am interested.

I'm sorry, I assumed you were up to speed on what I was talking about. My Bad.

At the top of the page just under the Welcom USER ID Name box is a link labeled Quick Links. Hit that then you will see a selection Social Groups when you hit that the Names of the four currently existing social Groups window will appear Biker/Musicians being one of them.

  5. Announcing the new membership director and committe chairman for the Bike/Musicians VebntureRider social group!!

Didn't hear the train coming did ya :rotf:

I was more interested in the patches, Decoder rings and possible t'shirts, concession rather than taking office. I'm not sure I can pass public scrutiny to hold a political office.http://smileys.smileycentral.com/cat/15/15_1_120.gifhttp://smileys.smileycentral.com/cat/15/15_1_137.gif

I'm now wondering how I slid under the radar of the Approval Committee.:duck:http://smileys.smileycentral.com/cat/36/36_15_56.gif

  6. If they just want to join us (which US?)as members, then they need to register and then pass the approval department, if you want to create a sub-group then you're the one to head it up,,,,, but we'll ( who's WE?)have to think about making sub-groups first.

    JMHO

    Carl

    OKey Dokey,

When you say JOIN US AS MEMBERS are you referring to the Venturerider.org "US" membership group, which they are already members of, or, are you referring to Biker/Musician Social group "US" that already exist on this forum?

If you mean the Biker/Musician Social group "US" , Well then, I'll try to encourage them to do so, and whom must they apply to that represents the approval department, to make sure they a worthy of membership into this already existing sub-Group. If personal references would be helpful in the application process, I offer mine, for whatever that's worth.

I don't think your suggestion of a Sub-Sub Social group will be necessary.

  7. I'll take the antenna & mount. How much? I'll cover shipping of course, I'm in Halifax Nova Scotia Canada, Postal COde B3M 3M9

I bought one a while back off Ebay to replace mine. As I recall I paid around $35.00 plus shipping. There is one on Ebay now with a current bid (13 current bidders) of $46.00 plus shipping. I've seen them go as high as $85.00. Make me an offer. I'm not sure what shipping to Nova Scota is, but I'll check.

  8. Hi To All,

When I purchased my 87' VR at the beginning of this year I was not new to the First Gen. VR but now that this bike is 21 years old I have had to dig into her a lot deeper than I had on my other VR. While changing out the old battery the dreded "Battery Fluid Low" sensor fell apart in my hands. After crying the blues on this site, danob11 sent me his old one for free! Well now I had a part but being a Machinist by trade electrical issues are like Greek to me. A short time after that I received an invite from a small group of riders from this site that live in my area, so after traveling about 50 miles from my house my Fusebox fell apart at 55 mph. My brother came with the trailer and drug me home and I missed the ride. After some paperclips and crazyglue I again started out for West Virginia to make it to the WV Skid-In, this time with the bike fully loaded and with Jean on the back. We didn't even make it out of the state of Pa. and again the fusebox crapped out!

I whinned on this site again:fiddle:, and Lonestarmedic sent me pics of his fusebox replacement, answered all of my questions and assured me that even though I am all thumbs with wire, I could do this! I bought a soldering gun, a new fusebox, a s***load of wire, and over the weekend of the 4th installed the battery sensor and the new fusebox. I only burned myself about 50 times, and I also found out that a soldering iron lights my cigars really well, but doesn't work for soldering after that without a good cleaning! So many problems went away after the new fusebox install, from poor charging to excessive amp draw when the brake lights were used to just flat not running! My most humble apologies to the riders I stiffed on my first outing and to Skid and his wife for not making it to the Skid-in. I also owe an apology to my wife Jean for dragging her to Bedford, Pa. and making her push me on the VR! Thank you once more for the help and friendship on this site, As I have gotten older I have found it harder to accept help from other people but the people on the VR.org site have softened my heart and I just wanted to say so.

I posted a few pics of the new fuse box, If anyone has any questions about where I got the parts or is struggling like I was, or needs some brackets made, Please just ask! I feel I need to "Pay it Forward" for the kindness you all have shared with me.

    Ride Safe,

    Earl

Same thing happened to me, almost. Ain't this group great

  10. I happen to know 2 , (No actually 3) Forum members that live in my neck of the world that need to be inducted, encouraged, pursued or harrassed into this Social (..... Or Anti-Social Group...........Hmmm, ............. Only time will tell) club. All of whom I happen to have been fortunant enough to have spent time with yesterday.:banana::banana:

One of which being BLACKJACK Terry. I spent time with BLACKJACK yesterday because as a dedicated forum member, he is the one that has taken it upon his shoulders, and to his credit, :thumbsup2: organized and Host the Monthly North Georgia M & E which occurs on the second Saturday of each month. But not only that is(as I found out yesterday) is a musician playing the drums :smash2:and guitar. :guitarist 2:He also happens to be a friend and the Design/build general contractor to the owner of Galaxy Music. :cool10::whistling:He recently completed a project of building the new Galaxy Music store on GA 400 near Dahlonega, GA whice we rode by yesterday :7_6_3[1]:and where his son happens to be the new Store Manager.:cool10::cool10::whistling::whistling:

Also at yesterday's N Ga M&E was a relatively new Forum member, 1st time M&E participants, avid Guitar collector :mo money:and aspiring Guitar musician:guitarist 2:. COLUMBO. He and his significant other, whose name (to my discredit) :doh:I didn't catch or retain, seem to be super people and ride a beautifull 2nd Gen Midnight Venture.

Also another relatively new forum member, MATTCHARVA, and are also reunited Old friends, and..... who I happen to be rebuilding an 84 XVZ12 VR for. Matt is a talented musician that I have actually jammed with, plays a killer Piano, and Guitar:guitarist 2: and does great lead vocals. :Im not listening toMatt and his wife Charlotte were over for dinner last night and are also super people :cool10::cool10:that will fit right with the VentureRider and Biker/musician group.:group cheers:

Oh yea, and..:icon_smile_question:icon_smile_question........will there patches for this club? .................:thumbsup2::banana:or maybe a secret membership decoder ring.:banana::banana:

  11. Do you think the scratches will come out? Is it actual metal and chrome or plastic? I will check out ebay tonite.

The part is what I call chromilized plastic. The scratches will not buff out. What I have done on this type part before is to fill scratches with bondo sand smoot and paint over it. As I did with plastic mirror in attached photo. Yamaha wants high dollars for this particular piece if they are still available, and you never seem to see the come up on Ebay. That's why I never replaced it.

  12. Hey Folks,

It seems that I am the butt (yeah go ahead and laugh) of an unusual prank. I went to change my info in my user CP to reflect my new bike in it and lo and behold, a gremlin popped up. It seems that when I went to do the change, I became a Super Moderator. Now I dont know how to react to this, I have no special powers, nor a whole lot of smarts. But I will say that being given this prestediguous title I will work very hard to be what I have been labeled. Please trust that I will and forever shall be just a humble plain old moderator....but if you feel you must pay me for this PM me and I'll send you my paypal info :)

You'll just always be known as the Super Syncarator to me:173:...........Boing, Boing, Boing, Boing, Boing, Boing, Boing,Boing........... Where's that banjo music coming from? :confused24:.................:whistling: Just Kidding:stickinouttounge:

    Erik,

Nice talking to you on the phone this morning, Welcome to the forum. You'll find a wealth of information and a wealth of great people here that will help keep your new ride healthy and you continually happy and proud of her.

I found the test proceedure in shop manual for the rectifier/regulator and soon as I get Clear on test proceedure with advice from one of the experts I will test the part I have and let you know what the results are.

Send me a fax number and I'll fax a copy of the test proceedure so you can test the one you have to make sure It has failed and it's not something else..

  14. If the speedo is operational, lets talk.

In addition, if you know the remaining fairing frame peices to be good (not bent from the bike ever falling over), I could be interested in those too. I know Randya has claim to one of those pieces.

The rubber box around the gas tank filler, is it split or torn, if not, we can add that too.

Speedo, I've got it and everything seems to light up when powered But since the bike is not running I have not actually seen speedo work . So, what I can do to test the gauge cluster is to install it on my bike and give it a test spin. This may take me a day or two to get done. I'll get back to as soon as I can with more information.

The fairing frame pieces seem to be good so far. All the outer pieces of the fairing, console panels and bezels, fake tank cover, grills around handle bars and lower front fairings and headlight trim all line up properly. Both upper front fairings do not have any tale-tell skint places on the top outermost edge, outside from mirrors, where these beast seem to make contact with the ground when they fall over. I'll take a pic and forward when I remove it.

Rubber boot around tank filler is good

  15. Last week going through Maryland I saw a costume roadside waving customers into the parking lot character, By the time I circled the block to get a pic he was gone. I think the problem is that it's so hot inside those costume get ups that they don't stay in the sun very long.

If I every get to pick the target again I'm gonna pick You, Your Bike and the Oscar Mayer Wiener Whistle Vehicle.:rotfl:I saw it in Maryland last week as well.

  17. CB, connections for it and the panel/s it fits in

    SPeedo/tach console

There was no CB on this bike and the right side Class Controller bezel has already been promised. Do have the Speedo Tach console The outer front cover of which has some damage but the inside Gauge cluster appears to be in good shape.

  18. Is the windshield decent on the bike? Any chance of passenger floor boards or armrests? Thanks.

Windsheild is not broken or scratched but it does have a very light cloudiness from sun exposure. Not bad but noticeable no passenger floorboards, passenger pegs and brackets are already on ebay, no armrest either.... Sorry.

  19. Dang, sounds like the good stuff is going fast. Any chrome trim for the front fender or any other other trim pieces? How is the gold on the front winshield trim? If its in good shape I'd be interested.

    Dan

no front fender Chrome however i do have this chrome mascot that came off my bike. It does have a few scratches on one side. The front windshield trim is already listed on Ebay. Please check original post for revised updated information. and pictures.
