Try Skydocs shim kit.

Indian had an issue with the drive by wire on their touring bikes. The one I drove was pretty bad. It was made worse by the cable operated clutch.
I think they addressed the issue with an ECU reflash. Don't know if it helped.

I would not want to deal with carb issues on that inline four. I bet they were smooth though, when tuned right.

It wasn't factory, but dealer installed from the Venture-line catalog. I have the entire list of the accessories that were installed on this bike. I added the Iso-pegs and a cup holder.
They clamp to the engine guards.

I put in some cheap LED spots on the original fog light brackets.
I have not had a chance to see if they throw much light at night, but I really only wanted something back in that spot to make me more visible. They are on the original, dealer installed switch and relay.
This was a good week for riding to work. Three clear days and another 330 miles on Babe (my blue ox).

I will be getting my butt on the road this afternoon, heading for the hills (Hickory Hill Motel that is). I don't know if you want or need any help getting things set up this evening, Orlin, but if you do you can give me a shout. Hell, I might just swing by, anyway (unless I am in the pool).

I am looking forward to a few days looking at bikes, talking about bikes and RIDING BIKES! It would be nice if we had some riders on all three generations of Yamaha touring bikes.
I bet we could have one of the new trans-continentals stripped and put back together in only half a day. I'll take the under: no more than two leftover parts.

My right front started leaking last spring. It leaked enough to start a drip down the side of the lower tube. It happened after a rather large, sharp bump with the wheel turned.
I drained both sides, ran a seal cleaner through each seal (35m film works) and re-filled them to the same level with the springs out. It weeped a little, so I ran the cleaning tool through again (no air pressure, of course) and it has been good for the last 5,000 or so miles. Guess I got lucky. I thought for sure I was going to have to rebuild everything, since it has over 50k on the odometer. Not to mention 28 years on the ticker.
On the bright side, at least it is not a brand new bike (or car, or whatever) with a recurring issue. Those will really get you steamed!

Carbs do not work on pressure. They work on vacuum. You can check that the inlet needles are seating, but you do not want to have any fuel flowing out of the bowls without the engine running.

An inch out of the seat by Rick Butler should get you there. Maybe 1-1/2". I have a 30" inseam and have no problem. I still watch out for gravel or sand, though.

Got out today to do a carburetor sync. It is wonderful how well it goes with new diaphragms in place.
Followed that up with some fresh coolant and an all-around check up.
Now we need a good rainy day or two to get the salt and sand off the roads. Saw a lot of bikes out on the roads this weekend, but I can wait.

I just mounted a pair of Hella horns with the High/Low tones that are stock size, stock mounting and very close on the current draw. No relay added, for now. They are a little louder, but much better sound.

Next up is a set of Hella Supertones for my Outback. The stock ones sound pretty close to the stock ones on my Venture. Can't stand them.

I saw someone use a little trolley that you park the bike on. Similar to the skates to help you move around the garage. I saw a video with the trolley winching a bike up a ramp, and no hands on at all. I think it had a wheel chock at the front to stabilize and a couple straps at the back.
Now if only I could remember where I saw the video.

I installed my new Hella dual tone horns today. They are a high/low tone in the stock horn size. This means my chrome covers still fit in the stock location with the stock chrome brackets. They sure don't sound stock, though. A little bit louder, but a lot more attention grabbing, with the high/low sounds. It sure would be nice if I never had to use them, but we know better.

Another thing to consider is the consequences of an accident. If your headlight is not DOT approved, you can lose a lot of money, no matter who is at fault.
