  1. It would be interesting if Americans surprised about the cost of Canadian motorcycle registration would include how much they spend on health care annually. I bet that I spend awfully close to $10,000.
  2. That's a lot of money, especially considering how short your riding season is. You don't even want to know how much I pay in Florida.
  3. I was very happy to find that it fits me like a glove. I'll go back to the Daytona International Speedway in a few days (it's Bikeweek) and see if they have one for test rides. Hopefully within a few months I'll join you as an owner. http://im1.shutterfly.com/media/47a3dd28b3127ccef2c603f22dba00000030O01AaOHDRi0bsge3nwE/cC/f%3D0/ls%3D00207041488420130310014856269.JPG/ps%3D50/r%3D0/rx%3D550/ry%3D400/
  4. I'm not sure that I can part with my 950. I doubt they would give me enough for me to not regret selling it, so the plan is to add another bike to the garage. I'm still 2 to 3 months away unless I bump into the perfect bike/deal. Here's a link to my mods. If the link works you will see that I'm very interested in comfort. http://www.yamahamotorcycleforum.com/forum/showthread.php?t=36370 http://im1.shutterfly.com/media/47a2d609b3127ccef0adf44fd4d700000030O01AaOHDRi0bsge3nwE/cC/f%3D0/ls%3D00207041488420120828152718581.JPG/ps%3D50/r%3D0/rx%3D550/ry%3D400/
  5. Thanks for all the replies (and the videos). I weight about 165lbs and stand 5'7". The most important thing is the comfort of the passenger (She Who Must Be Obeyed), and as such it looks like there's a Venture in my future. Thanks again, now I'll go back to lurking mode. Louis
  6. Please allow me to introduce myself. My name is Louis and I live in Ormond Beach FL, (10 miles north of Daytona Beach). I have had many bikes over the years and now ride a Yamaha 950 Tourer Vstar. I love the bike and it fills the role that I bought it for, namely 50 mile rides with my wife. I’m interested in getting a motorcycle with longer legs to provide us a true touring platform. The Venture is my main object of desire. My main areas of concern deal with comfort. Given that you are well versed on the bike I would like to ask….. Does the shield provide good, buffeting free protection? Is there enough power to pass slower traffic without downshifting? Is the stock seat comfortable? Thanks in advance
  7. I'm usually only a reader of this forum to learn about the Venture and as such I usually don't have much to say, but If you're more interested in gas stabilization than a detergent take a look at Startron. It's used for boats and does a wonderful job. Pretty cost effective also which is important when the tank holds 300 gallons. http://mystarbrite.com/startron/
