hqgreen Posted August 26, 2008 Share #1 Posted August 26, 2008 Hi All Wanted to thank all of you for the excellent posts on venturerider.org. I recently traded a midnight roadliner for an 07 venture. With slightly less than 600 miles, I swapped out the stock bridgestones for the avon venoms (mt90 up front). I'm using 42 up front, and 46 in the back. Wow, what a difference. In addition, I swapped out all of the stock lamps, and replaced them with brighter bulbs (headlight, flashers, taillight). Yeah, you can replace the headlamp without splitting the fairing. A buddy of mine helped me cut the windshield down, and that came out perfect, too. I changed out all of the fluids with mobil 1 synthetic. I've had great results with mobil 1 in the past, and the venture is no exception. What a smooth machine. And comfy too. To top it off, I waxed my rsv with collinite (http://www.colliniteautomotive.com/), and the blue really shows off its flake... If you haven't tried this wax yet, do so. A can lasts forever, almost. Definitely put it on when your vehicles finish is cool... Getting a venture is going against the grain for some, especially coming off of a roadliner. I could never have afforded to make the roadliner as cozy as the rsv, considering the numerous creature comforts the rsv comes with in stock form. Passing lamps and a backrest are next... SteveP Posted August 26, 2008 Share #2 Posted August 26, 2008 (edited) ... Passing lamps and a backrest are next... Any suggestions? The OEM Yamaha Passing Lamps provide adequate light for me: http://www.starmotorcycles.com/star/accessories/acscitemdetail/5/4/83/408/all/1/241/0/detail.aspx and the visors provide a nice finishing touch (more chrome is never a bad thing): http://www.starmotorcycles.com/star/accessories/acscitemdetail/5/4/83/408/all/1/117/0/detail.aspx Do a search on this forum and you'll see various other lights used on RSVs by members here -- very creative on varying budgets. As for backrests... I have (and love) the Utpoia backrest: http://www.utpr.com/rsv.html The other popular option seems to be the Diamond R backrest: http://www.diamondraccessories.com/yamaha/proddisplay.php?name=RSV%20Custom%20Drivers%20Backrest Good luck with your new cycle!
