Freebird Posted May 12, 2016 #1 Posted May 12, 2016 I would like to put the Flanders bars on the new RSV like I had on the '99. My new RSV already has SS brake lines front and back. I think they are stock length though. At least all I will need is the single upper hose for the front brakes though. I will need the SS clutch line and the throttle cables. I've read here that the RSTD throttle cables and clutch/brake lines are two inches longer than the RSV. If that is true, I've found stock SS RSTD cables and hoses a lot cheaper than having 2" longer RSV stuff custom made. So, can anybody verify that the RSTD cables and lines are indeed 2" longer than the RSV. Also, I assume that we are talking about the new model RSTD and not the older Royal Stars?
bongobobny Posted May 13, 2016 #2 Posted May 13, 2016 Hmmm, don't know Don. Bought 4" longer throttle cables from Buckeye. Went with 4" because I'm using Baron's risers along with Flanders bar and wanted to make sure I had long enough cables...
Freebird Posted May 13, 2016 Author #3 Posted May 13, 2016 Well I know that 2" is enough for the Flanders because that's what I used on the '99. I don't need the risers. I just want to know for sure that the cables and clutch line on the newer RSTDs are indeed 2" longer than the RSV.
bongobobny Posted May 13, 2016 #4 Posted May 13, 2016 Well, yeah you don't need the risers, your arms ARE a little longer than mine! My arms are more Raggy sized...
Gary N. Posted May 13, 2016 #5 Posted May 13, 2016 I wonder if those cables and hoses would be something a dealer would normally carry in stock Don? If so a quick measurement would solve the problem. Maybe a phone call to the dealer that was at your maintenance day a few years ago.
