Final gear assembly gap

Recommended Posts

Hello guys,

I have a quick question for you all...

I just replaced tires on my bike and after i reassembled the rear wheel, I'm not sure if the gap between the final gear assembly and the base of the wheel is not too big.

It's about 1/4" from the base of the wheel.

Please see the picture for detail.

It is as far as i could push it in.

As long as axle is flush on right hand side and you are not missing right hand washer and have tightened axle nut to 100-110 ft lbs, then it looks fine to me. The one thing I learned after the second time I put the wheel on was to lightly lubricate the big o-ring/washer located just behind the splines on the wheel drive on the wheel side. Makes pushing it back into the splines a lot easier.

yes... i cleaned up and greased up everything inside.

the axle it about 1/16 or less sticking out on the right side.

the washer is in and the nut is torqued to 110 ft lbs

i just finished installing the front wheel and took i for a ride around the block... all seems to be solid, so i guess/hope all is good.

have a good one guys and ride safe
