dvuch1 Posted July 9, 2014 Share #2 Posted July 9, 2014 Yes but the L-shaped plastic going from housing to water pump has 2 o rings as well,,,and you generally end up taking this off as well. The t-housing as 2 allen type bolts that hold it to the block. The plastic housing has 2 screws. You need to take off the Right header exhaust( 2 allens) to get to it. May or may not need a gasket there. Yep its an o ring for the T housing Oh and the coolant bypass in the base of the t stat housing has an o ring as well. Peder_y2k Posted July 9, 2014 Share #3 Posted July 9, 2014 NO!! Common auto parts and hardware store o-rings won't fit....they are either too thick or thin...even the metric ones. ONLY the oem o-ring will work correctly. Useing a substitute will only cause another leak. Flyinfool Posted July 9, 2014 Share #6 Posted July 9, 2014 While it is common for that O-ring to leak, It is also not quite uncommon for the plastic part over the t-stat to warp. There was a post where someone made a metal clamp to keep the plastic part from warping. I just milled my plastic part flat and did not over tighten the bolts.
