dallas007 Posted May 10, 2014 #1 Posted May 10, 2014 awhile back i did the HID headlight upgrade with success thanks to the tread posted on the forums but now i have this goofy high beam indicator flicker when i hit a bump when my low beam is ON anyone have any idea what this would be any help would be great Thanks 1987 venture:lightbulb:
Ozlander Posted May 10, 2014 #2 Posted May 10, 2014 Sounds like a loose connection or a bad solder joint.
Neil86 Posted May 10, 2014 #3 Posted May 10, 2014 I think the high beam indicator grounds back through the Reserve Lighting Unit...so something might be going on there.
dallas007 Posted May 10, 2014 Author #4 Posted May 10, 2014 Reserve Lighting Unit has been bypassed for the HID
Neil86 Posted May 10, 2014 #5 Posted May 10, 2014 (edited) So presently where are the light green (Lg) and Blue/Red (L/R) wires connected....might help narrow down the issue. Is the headlight flickering on low beam at the same time? Edited May 10, 2014 by Neil86
bkuhr Posted May 10, 2014 #6 Posted May 10, 2014 Have the dash lamps been replaced with LEDs? If so a very light cross connection would allow a LED to light at nearly full brightness, where a incandescent bulb would just barley glow and not be visible. The High beam indicator is directly wired to the RLU, and depending on how the RLU has been bypassed it could be an issue here, otherwise the high beam indicator signal comes from the CMU, and if there is corrosion on the boards inside the CMU, this could account for a possible cross. This will require access the the rear of the dash to troubleshoot. Study the wiring diagrams in the Tech library to try to find where the cross ground is coming from.
