I've mounted my Ipod to the handle bar of my RSTD with a universal telephone type mount. It looks good, is sturdy and should do well. Problem is, how do I supply power to the Ipod? Does anyone know of a power chord for an Ipod that does not come from a cigarette lighter type plug? That is how it works in my car. I'm afraid of screwing up the electronics in the Ipod with a direct 12 volt hook-up. Any help is appreciated.

Hey go to any auto parts store and they have a cigarette style plug in that has a fuse in it.......you can put any size fuse you want in the plug to protect your accessory......whatever it may be.

Which will work if you have a plug socket......if not buy an inline fuse holder and install the proper size fuse in that inline to wherever you tie the power into. Usually like a small 1 amp fuse works for small items.

Depend on which I Pod You have and how old is, battery life should be over 8 Hours. and its fully recharged in less then hour. I Dont have iPod connected to power source while playing, but i have cigaret lighter socket wired strait to MC Battery in my sadlebag. I'm found iPod Battery life is good enough for round the town rides. if i stop for lunch anyway i'm removing iPod from handlebar and plug it to be recharged in sadlebag.Other solution is, as Kit said, to mount one of DC Sockets on handlebar and have power even for some more gadgets (GPS)
