not trying to get into your buisiness but I just had a complete hard drive failure and my desk top. I took the hard drive out and trashed /recycled the rest. Took the hardrive to best but and had them remove all our pics email info and evrything else and they backed it up on a 500 gb external hard drive for $150. I was then able to reload what I needed back on my lapyop and the wifes laptop tha we bought to replace the desktop.

May not work for you ut its worth a try.

Oh, btw ... thanks for posting this as it serves as a "wakeup call" to those of us who've not taken the time to do regular backups of our data.

External USB hard drives are INEXPENSIVE to buy. I have Seagate 1 Tb and it comes with easy to use backup software. Everyone should have one.

That just stinks!! But like was said, take it to Best Buy, or good Comp. repair close to you and they can probably get your stuff off the hard drive, happened to my wifes, then I bought her a 1TB external HD at Best Buy for under $100.00 , you can get good deals if you look for the sales. Good luck.

Was it the HD or another PC component like the motherboard, power supply, etc. If so, you can plug the old HD into a new PC and run it as a secondary HD. At least long enough to copy data over safely. Just an idea.

If I were closer I'd stop in and fix the computer, I can do data recovery, computer builds and repairs. Take the drive to a local shop and ask to have a data recovery done, no hard drive ever loses all the data unless the platters inside the hard drive enclosure become dust.

If the Hard drive has not been physically damaged, or formatted, then all the files are still there.

In most cases they can be recovered, the cost depends on the level of damage the disk has suffered.

ps ... even if it has been formatted, they can still usually be recovered, but the data specialists needed to do this cost $$$$

A very reputable business here tried for over 5 days to get the stuff recovered. The thing would not let them do anything....before wiping everything off they did inform us of this.

This started as a virus and went from there. The computer wouldnt even boot to safe mod or last know safe....it kept going back to the boot menu.

When they hooked it up it kept shutting down their equipment....

its done...we are hard drive hunting....no great rush now as we have nothing to back up...lol.

I have received several PM's with email addy and I thank you. has any of you sent an actual email to my post addy.... mrreimer@westman.wave.ca I think something funny is going on and we may not be logged on to that because we have received nothing since hooking the computer up today.

Had exactly the same problem with my computer. Fortunately, I had most of my data backed up on external hard drives.

Ended up having to reformat, and even that did not completely cure the problem. Ended up buying a new computer.

I also have a program that will recover photos. It works, believe me. Not all that expensive, and you can buy it on a down load.

Also, just sent you an Email to the MR address. Let me know if you don't get it. CFAS4U@Charter.net
