54chevybelair Posted April 8, 2011 #1 Posted April 8, 2011 I hope someone can help me. I have a 2004 RSV and I need to wire my gps. I don't have a owners manual. I would like the gps to have power only while the key is "on". Where is the best place to run the wires. Thanks.
Seaking Posted April 8, 2011 #2 Posted April 8, 2011 My GPS mount for the ZUMO 450 is hot wired to the battery.. however, it only delivers power when the GPS unit is in the mount. You can find Most power wires going to your lights, headlight or highway lights, or the bike's radio system for example to draw switched power from.. the HORN for example is another source..

Your bike already has a power outlet on the left side of the fairing - that is what most of us use. If you want a permanent wire, I'd suggest you simply tap into those same wires behind the outlet inside the fairing. That circuit is already fused with a 5 amp fuse, more than sufficient for your needs. And you can download an owner's manual free from Yamaha's web site. Goose Edited April 9, 2011 by V7Goose
Art708 Posted April 9, 2011 #4 Posted April 9, 2011 I put a fuse block under the seat on my Valk. I used the 5v accessory wires to power a relay to send power to the fuse block. Now I have 6 fused taps that I can connect stuff to.
