ediddy Posted November 24, 2010 Share #1 Posted November 24, 2010 Can you jump a venture with jumper cables hooked to an automobile battery?
Freebird Posted November 24, 2010 Share #2 Posted November 24, 2010 Yes you can. No problem at all. Most people would recommend that the car not be running though.

I make a small set of jumpers for the bikes. Just use one of those 6 or 9 ft extenison cords you can get for a couple bucks at Dollar Stores cut off ends and put electrical clips on them. I just feel better not throwing all that juice to a bike system. I may not be right in this but I don't think that small cord would carry enough to hurt system. Sylvester Posted November 24, 2010 Share #4 Posted November 24, 2010 12 volts is 12 volts and that is all. You can get it anyway you want. Get a bunch of D cell batteries it you want. Amps are something different and Freebird was right with don't run the engine.

Yammer Dan Posted November 24, 2010 Share #6 Posted November 24, 2010 I thought the heavier the cables the more amps they carried.

Dead on Y D, but you don't want the high charge rate of the car alternator. That is why I just use the car battery without the engine running.
