What do you use your bike for other than the pleasure rides we all like so much? We all take the weekend ride to meet friends, eat or see the sights. Some of us take our vacations on the bike. But how many of us utilize the bike for something other than a strictly pleasure cruise? Although any time I'm riding it's a pleasure, sometimes its more utility/work oriented.

Show us your bike in an other than 'pleasure' situation.

Our Venture started out as a weekend cruiser for my wife. I always used the Honda shadow for commuting weather permitting. Our youngest turned 16 last year and wanted to ride bike instead of driving car. I use the Venture for work now and am loving every minute of it. I put on 220 miles a day.

I used mine for an 80 mile round trip commute most of last year also. 80 miles in Houston traffic certainly is not pleasure!!

I use my RSTD for the 60mile rountrip to work daily, groceries, travel and just about anytime I'm on the road. My only problem is that I always end up detoured and taking longer routes home....:big-grin-emoticon:. Had her 1 year this month and just turned 20k miles on the ODO.

I commute daily with the Venture as long as the weather cooperates (no chance of ice). We also do weekends and at least one long trip (2,000 - 4,000 miles) each year. I've often thougth of getting a smaller cruiser for my commutes and town riding but I think I would miss the trunk and bags which are so handy for my errands. A large pizza fits nicely in the trunk and I've been known to stop at Sam's Club and strap some large items on the back seat.

I used to use Roxanne as a daily commuter up until I pick up Maxine (my Vmax). Then they would switch off, unless it was thinking about raining, and then Roxanne had the 'pleasure'. However, I picked up a new F-150 a couple of months ago and have been putting the miles on her, as of late, to get her broke in for towing purposes. Although lately, laziness has landed me grabbing the truck keys more often. It is just easier when I am running a little late, then getting geared up :whistling: But it sure does make it easier to go through drive-thrus:D

I have been known to deliver commercial insurance policies to my clients on the sled. They usually get a kick out of it and say they've never had an agent deliver on a bike before. I don't get to do that often enough tho. I commute with a co-worker and I don't think the wife (nor her husband for that matter) wants me to pick her up on my scoot.
