All "common" expenses come from the joint account and each paycheque, we "pay ourselves" so when we want to buy something for ourselves (like a horse or a set of lights), it comes from our own money. That way, what she spends doesn't affect me. On second thought, why not go with lights like I did... a whole lot cheaper.
