EFudd Posted June 6, 2009 Share #1 Posted June 6, 2009 Have the back wheel off my 05 RSTD. Want to lube the drive shaft ends. Is there an access plug/hole at the u-joint to help get the drive shaft back in place? Do I have to retract the rubber boot? Would like to know before getting a lifetime sentence trying to put it back together. Thanks, Jack
RedRider Posted June 6, 2009 Share #2 Posted June 6, 2009 Assuming it is the same as the Venture, yes, there is an access hole. RR
EFudd Posted June 6, 2009 Author Share #3 Posted June 6, 2009 Thanks RR for the reply. Actually have a venture beside it and it does appear to be different. Wondering if one is hidden under the rubber boot or if Yamaha added one in subsequent year models. Jack
piper Posted June 6, 2009 Share #4 Posted June 6, 2009 When I greased my rear end I took the axel out and greased it all with Moly 60. When I went to but it back (I have a 05 model) I took the rubber plug off where (CV) u joint is and grabbed it with bent peace of a coat hanger wire and slid the axel back in It worker for me
