Ignition Lock

I was in a meeting and had rode my bike to the location. Being security conscience I tried to use the handlebar lock on my ignition switch. When I came out of the meeting, i noticed that all the lights were on, on my bike and when i tried to start it the battery was dead.

 

Now anytime I lock the handle bars, all of the lights come on. Any ideas? This is for a 87 Venture Royale.

Counterclockwise from off there are 2 positions

 

- LOCK locks the steering

- P(ark) locks the steering and turns on the running lights.

 

Go one less click and the lights won't come on.
