ninjamuder Posted April 1, 2009 #1 Posted April 1, 2009 hey guys, ben a loooong time since ive been on here.....lots happened since i last logged in....old job went away, decided to take the plunge and do my own thing, 1-1/2 years later, im so freakin busy fixing other peoples bikes i hardly have time to ride mine!!!!!..oh well, cant complain too bad, and it gives me more time with my family, so it's a good trade:thumbsup2: anyway.....ran into a lil prob w/ "ol' blue".....started last fall right before winter, but its really prominent now.....seems like when the motor fully gets up to temp, i loose 2 cylinders, and i'm thinking either pick-up coil, or cdi, because when it does its thing, tach drops to zero, but it still idles really lumpy, but as soon as you give it barely any throttle at all, everything comes back.....only happens below 12-1300 rpm....i know i can fix this, but i am swamped!!!!!, so if anyone has run into this before, gimmie a heads up on it so i dont have to spend 2 days with a meter chasing this little bug:headache: just to let ya know.....87 v/r, 46k on the clock....new plug wires/caps/plugs last fall....good carb synch....i am positive this is electrical, and not fuel related, so.....lemme know what you guys think, ok?? thanks,....joe

Give the Run Stop Switch a Bath, with CRC 2-26 Check the Tangs. on the 15 Amp Ignition fuse, ( might be cracked, or loose, or bad connection ) Pull out the TCI, remove cover, put it in your wife's oven set at 110 deg. F for about an hour to dry out the Moisture. While the cover is off the TCI, Re-Solder all the wires from the Two Plugs, where they connect to the Circuit board. Give the Two plugs at the TCI a bath with CRC 2-26 Cable from pickup coils, going to TCI, plug about half way, enroute, open it and clean the contacts, and do resistance reading, make sure good contact in that plug. Open up the 40 Amp main fuse holder, clean the element, make sure the two small screws are tight. One more thing. The Pressure Sensor, located, forward, and above the #2 Carb. pull the electrical plug of that baby, and check for Moisture and Crude, resideing in the Rubber Cap over the Electrical plug. Might be an Ignition coil going bad also. Tach fed off the #2 Ignition coil. OK, that should get you started, Edited April 2, 2009 by GeorgeS
