WTB Fuel Pump

My fathers 83 venture is fouling the right rear sparkplug and running poorly.. he thinks its the fuel pump.. I think he's nuts but nevertheless he wants a new one..

 

anybody got an Idea where one can be had?

Fuel pump is not going to kill one plug or any of the plugs.

no spark to that cylinder?

Bad plug wire.

Carbs out of sink

Runs the choke too long

float in carb sticking or set to high

weak compression on that cylinder

Check Diaphragm on that carb.

The plug is fuel fouled? Wet or sooty?

 

If so, lean down and push on the choke for that carb and make sure it's not hanging open a bit.

I know this has been discussed before, so I may be redundant. You're right, not the fuel pump! I assume you've checked the fuel levels? It could be a leaky or saturated float that's heavy and barely floats, which can cause intermittent flooding. I've had it happen. I can't explain why the flooding was intermittent, but it was. After the second time stranded I found it.

I actually had the jet tube unscrew and was only held in by the needle and was dumping fuel in copius amounts but I did not notice it at first because it sat in a normal looking position and happen to see it move when I reved the motor. Gas mileage was bad too in low 30's.
