Bobcatpat Posted September 26, 2008 Share #1 Posted September 26, 2008 Hi everyone, I'm new here. I recently became interested in the venture. I love the bike after trying a couple of them! I like the radio, and I think it sounds good, but can you upgrade the speakers so you can play them loud with no distortion? Better speakers maybe? Aimhigh Posted September 26, 2008 Share #2 Posted September 26, 2008 I think the best sound is going to come from headsets in the helmet. welcome aboard. Jim T
DLBCAL Posted September 26, 2008 Share #3 Posted September 26, 2008 I swapped out the Clarions for Polk Audio's DB401 marine speakers. http://www.polkaudio.com/caraudio/products/4/speakers/db401/ I think they sound much better than the stock versions, but they are limited by the quality of the main unit. flb_78 Posted September 26, 2008 Share #4 Posted September 26, 2008 I have the Polk 401's as well. I can turn them up louder, but they will still distort.
dynodon Posted September 26, 2008 Share #5 Posted September 26, 2008 will the Polk 401's fit the Royale (I have an '86) also? how hard is it to get these installed, just bolt in, or some mods? Thanks for any tips. I agree though, a better speaker will help, but more "clean" power would help too. There are some times when I just want to listen through a speaker rather than the headphones. AZSpyder Posted September 26, 2008 Share #6 Posted September 26, 2008 Check out this thread. Along with talk about speakers there is a filter. I haven't tried it myself but word is if you block the bass to these little speakers you can reduce the distortion, in this case a frequency the speakers were not made to reproduce.
