  1. Thanks. unfortunately I do not have the Royale model. Just the standard Venture Tom
  2. Hi All ! I am trying to find out where I can get a lower windshield for my 83 Venture std. I tried Titebike.com, no luck. Tried paplastics.com. after three emails and 2 phone calls with no response, i gave up. I like riding with the wind in my face when it is hot. I was thinking about just taking the windshield off, but that might make me look like more of a hack than I already am. I am not handy with a jig saw. Any ideas on where I could get one ? Thanks in advance. Tom O'Neil Hamilton Mass
  3. Hello All. I went for a 3 hour ride today on my 83 Venture std. Just about to turn 50K miles. about 4 to 5 times during the ride at about 40mph or saw the throttle would suddenly close. As if I tuned the throttle down myself, but I did not. I just twisted the throttle back to off/no throttle position and turned it again and it was fine. I fined this to be a bit odd. Anyone know what would cause this ? I would like to find out now if this is leading up to something more serious. Thank You Tom O'Neil Hamilton Mass
  4. This is a dumb question, but I will ask it anyway. Is the exhaust for the 83 Venture Royale the same as the 83 Venture standard ? I would assume so, but I learned a long time ago that sometime its best not to assume something. Tom
  5. Hello All. I took care of my handlebar issue. Now I am a happy camper ! I noticed I have a hole in the bottom of one of my mufflers. I would like to replace them with slip-ons. I am old school and like the shiny chrome look. Does anyone know what I can buy and put them on with out a lot of cussing, hacksaws etc ? I have a 83 Venture 1200 Standard. Thanks in Advance. 6. I purchased the Venture last October. I was riding a 93 Kawasaki Vulcan 1500 cruiser but the handlebars shook a lot and it was only a 4 speed. On the highway I was always looking for another gear, so it was no fun to ride and time for it to go. The Venture was everything I was looking for. Even the radio worked. 2nd gear works fine. Fixed a few wiring gremlins and so far so good. Over the winter I bought a 2003 Suzuki Bandit 600 sport bike. I know what your thinking but it was a good deal with only 3400 miles. I wanted something to ride in the hot weather and is easy to ride around in Boston traffic on the weekends. I added a pair of Nelson Rigg sport bike saddle bags and having those attached is about the same as flying a flag that says: I am not a punk kid looking to race ! Even the Harley guys wave now. My wife thinks I am nuts, but I am 54 years old and I am going to stretch out my mid life crisis excuse for as long as I can. Its been six years and it still works !
  7. Thanks Everyone ! If this does not work then I will find someone clever who can come up with a way to either make handle bars fit or cook up something from scratch. There is no way I am going to get rid of this bike. It is just to much fun to ride and it is just about bullet proof ! Tom
  8. Well, I looked again. I need to get a better pair of glasses or something. They are standard bars. Anyone know what size socket is required to remove the two main stopper nuts ? Thanks
  9. Hello All I have a 83 Venture 1200 standard. The handlebars are to swept back for my liking due to a bad shoulder joint in my arm. I checked the manual and saw that there are two adjustments to move the handle bars back. I took off the plastic cover and low and behold, the handle bars are a one piece unit. What I need to do is figure out if there are handle bars out there that I can use to give my hands a straight mount. Like drag bars, this seems to take the pressure off my arm nerve by having my hand straight out. Any ideas ? I would hate to have to sell it, because at this point after 50 miles it is getting painful to ride. Even taking Aleave pain pills does not help. Thanks Tom O'Neil Hamilton Mass
  10. My 83 has a Dual Model XD 1222 in it. Has cd, usb am/fm. It did not work when I bought the bike. I found the same model on ebay in working condition for $20.00
